It's a good site over there, but those old boys run a tight ship. No shenanigans allowed.

You're right, having an old big rig would be cool, but nothing like having an old Spartan 100. As I was writing that, have you checked out Classic Truck Rescue out of Oregon? http://classictruckrescue.com/

Truth! Took me a minute to comprehend and put my witty comments aside when I first joined, but everyone was beyond courteous and extremely helpful. Its more of a professional forum which is a nice change of pace from other forums I am on where people who shouldn't be responding, do so purely to "poke the bear" and leave less-then-helpful info.

And I'll checked them out now.

I had a line on an old 60's International R185 tractor front which would have been cool, but when I checked it out in person the poor thing was done for body wise. So I hit the books again and thats when I found the spartan line, namely 59 model year, and fell in love instantly. Just something about old iron. From a time when drivers were operators, and trucks truly had class. GM needs to do away with its current trash line-up and return to the square body and stovebolt eras.

And I appreciate the welcomes all. Hoping I can both learn and contribute in the coming times here.

You definitely need to be ready to take notes when visiting over there. They will do "classes" if you will when they meet each year. One year it may be how to rebuilt a carburetor, the next it might be rebuilding an axle, etc.

The Spartan 100 is a beauty of a truck. Built to the hilt, too. I saw one over on stovebolt that someone bought and it had the 348 W-Block in it. Old iron is way cool. Those old boys built the truck with a function and they functioned well. Once people wanted to go fast everywhere, function was built out of the trucks. I'm with you on the new trucks being classless. Nothing has character anymore.
