I went from a sm465 to a nv3500. I know th3 nv3500 is nowhere as strong but the shift like a Honda
instead of a dump truck.

When compared to a m465, very few transmissions are strong. But, the NV unit was designed as a truck trans and should be fine behind a mild v8. The m465 just gained a reputation for invincibility as it was common to find them in heavier commercial vehicles, like dump trucks.

The 3500 is Probabaly the best Manual trans to use behind a a 6.2

The 97-07 models were the strongest

We bought a used one from a wrecked truck that was used in a rock quarry

And it’s been behind a 5.3 on 35s with a teenage boy driving it for three years with no problems

The earlier years had issues with jumping out of first gear

if the price is right and they weren't rated very high for input torque.. just as a far warning but dodge used the same design and haven't heard much negative things ..so take that with a grain of salt .. I never had issues with it minus gear ratio is long 1 to 1 in 3rd and OD is .75 to 1

Is it the 4WD version?

Yeah, I have the right T case. I picked up the wrong trans though, 2WD model. What are you looking to get for it?

If something worked out, I'd have a great condition 2WD NP833 for the OP. :happy107:

That NP833 sounds like it would be a perfect fit for me. Does this site have PMs? I'd like to know what you're asking for it.

My teenage son bangs Thru the gears in his with no problem

And I pound the one in my bronco
It’s one of the early versions that jumps out of first gear
I have a replacement trans

So I’ve been trying to break this one and I just can’t break it
I also have a replacement roller cam EFI 351w
So I’ve been trying to blow up the efi 5.0 that’s in it now

My 700r4 just blew and am thinking about a manual swap since i was about to swap a vortec 350 in anyway.

What would i need for the manual swap? I need overdrive so i guess a nv3500 or 4500 would be the best option? I dont tow or anything so the OD and "honda" shifting sound awesome.
