Hi friends. So, I was browsing fb marketplace when I saw a 1978 GMC C25 for sale for 850 dollars.
Yeah you heard me.
Catch?
No engine, no trans. Originally 454 and th400.
No column, was tilt with cruise(I have a 78 half ton with that exact column!)
Some rust on body, not bad surprisignly for our area
Needs chasis work like brake lines and rust removal.
Floor pan and rocker on driver is rusted but not rotted through all together.
No tailgate.
I want it.
I want it bad. THe man is offering to deliver it for 30 bucks and a case of hamms! He lives an hour and half away. I have small blocks. I have th350s. I have a single th400 rwd in a 75 grand am.. but i dont imagine thats ready to drop in considering BOP and a sedan. plus would need building likely.
But the thing about this truck.. its in better shape than mine... but its also 2wd, its also 3/4 ton... and its something that I can work on without having my plow truck out of comission! Thats my biggest concern for not jumping in, i cant not-have it ready.
But this.. i can put it in the shed and likely not touch it till spring at earliest.. but then its at my convenience and its on my terms! ENgine is out, i can do it right and do what needs to be done. I have a graveyard of parts. Got a perfect hood to put on it. Its simple. It has AC option and all the original parts minus the engine side of things.
I feel like this is my calling.
Id love a manual trans, but i dont know where my extra pedals are and i would rather keep an auto since it would be the least amount of work since it came with that. At least for now. I have tunnels if that would have been an issue. or becomes.
Is this my calling? The guy is holding it for me, he says he likes the fact Im keeping a tradition alive and im a young girl, im impressive.
Is this it?
