And when you get to be my age, and all those tidbits of automotive information once stored in the brane start to leak out and dissipate into the ozone, the good shop manual is priceless.

Lol, yes sir!! Or at my age have never knew them to forget???

Maybe libraries?
That’s where I usta go for a manual that I didn’t have.
Been about 25 years since I’ve been in a library though, lol.
Pretty sure I have a couple chilton manuals in a box somewhere. Need to dig them out.
If I find em, anyone near me is welcome to borrow.
Haven’t needed one yet for the “new” ‘86 we got.

the manuals navigate strangely compared to my 1990 olds 88 and my 1999 olds aurora FSM

Which year vehicle are you looking for first?

1984:

Yes sir. You may know this, I'm mainly looking for engine specs, so would it matter what year? These engines didn't change much? Or did they??
Pretty sure I can get my hands on an old 283(?) inline 6 an old irrigation engine to rebuild, have valves and hard seats for it, bore it seems oversize pistons, a cam and lifters set isn't out of range.....rebuild it put it on a stand and see if I can blow it up?? Want to learn to build engines, and don't know a soul around here that knows how to so... like most everything things I've done, I'll do it for the first time, the first time.
Thanks!!

My 1977 Ford passenger car service manual was a beast..... but it covered all mercury and ford passenger cars 1977.

I can show you specs for Inline from 1980 or anything you need. But you need 84, which emissions and stuff changed by then for sure.

Any emissions that hasn't been removed when I get one of these will be shortly after! I'm in the country in Texas, we don't worry bout all that. May take you up on that once I get my hands on one and figure out what year it is!!

Thanks

I ran across this link about 5 years ago, yes it is still active, it has a lot of newer years as well all free for the download!! excellent work offered by a thoughtful person!! Good to compare one year to another. then you can print out the section you need and NOT get your book dirty.

I bought a Factory Service Manual and the Factory assembly manual both on a DVD for about $40 on some auction website. I then used my office laser printer while i was working overnights and printed out all 2000 pages. Got them both in a old catalog stand in my garage and also on a older tablet i paid $10 at a garage sale.

Speaking of a book one holds in their hand and turns actual paper pages.
Would appreciate any known info on one and maybe where one can be found.

Thanks

Shakey
Factory service manuals on ebay. You list several trucks. For your 75, you would need to get the 1974 service manual and the 1975 supplement manual to be covered. The 1975 supplement will have fewer pages, but added info.

Back in the old days (60's and 70's) those were decent shop manuals.
No clue how they are in modern times ...............

I like to look at them, but haven't really used them.

That makes me wonder, am I the only one that reads old service manuals just for the heck of it?

It does not. Pa had one of those old biue manuals for everything built in the 70's. Was kept on the big book case and taken down several times. He was a ford guy, though I would love to have that book now!!
