I posted a question a while back about these plastic shims but that was before I took my springs apart. Now I see there is a hole on each end of one of the leafs that had a plastic shim that snapped in place. The pass side had the little plastic nub broke off so the shim scooted away from the end, there is wear on the spring from them rubbing together. The drivers side doesn't have the wear since the plastic shim is still attached. This is on a 78 C10 Scottsdale that has never been took apart before, I've known the truck since new. Any ideas on where to get new shims like these? I've looked at LMC and every other place I know and found nothing. Without the nub they won't stay in place. May be fine without them but there is a little wear where the shim slipped off.

Well, I dug around more and found a site "General Spring". Search "leaf springs", then "leaf spring parts", then "tip inserts". They have round, square, and rectangle shims. They have one that looks exactly like mine with the same oval hole. A few other sites have them also but they are hard to find since you have to search specific names such as Button Slider, Leaf Spring Tip Insert, Squeak Pads.

Great tip. I have had those fall out before and never knew where to get replacements. Same with the clamps. I'll bet General Spring has the clamps too.

Thanks, they prob do. This is the only place I found the sliders with the "button". After blasting I found a lot of wear on all four of the springs that I thought were perfect, especially on the one where the slider slid out. They sell the replacement spring packs reasonable, I may go that route.

I tried and tried, but never could get to those tip inserts.
