So just cut a deal to trade our 07 Mega Cab G56 truck AND camper for a 2016 Ram 2500.
180k miles on the 07, solid, orig owner, have done all the “right” mods and would trust it to go anywhere hauling anything and still look good doing it.
74k on the ‘16. Very clean, well maintained, deleted since new, ran absolutely perfect (as it should) on a test drive.
Both trucks have thousands in “extras” that’s about a wash.
New truck will be the wife’s DD and she’s more excited than me. I like loud and lifted trucks, but the brodozer wheels and Walmart lift kit turn me off a bit. Wheels can be fixed for free. They’d sell in a heartbeat and wrapped with $1600 worth of brand new Toyos so no problem selling for good $.
Headache rack is sweet but also has to go to fit in attached garage. More $ back. Getting the tuner, Autocal, etc and has only a Tow tune and trans tune in it.
Only adding $3k on top of the trade. Seems like a great deal even though I wouldn’t actually go buy a diesel with a 6” lift. Totally impractical and a toy. Lifts are for Jeep’s and square body’s not tow rigs!
The evidence....

So, are you done with the camping scene or you gonna replace the camper with another?

No just was wanting to get a long bed/newer DD rig for my lovely wife and a bigger truck camper. And this randomly popped up.
If we end up keeping it for a while, I’ll just pick up a travel trailer.

2 cents, Crazy is speculative.
I spoke to a few owners a while back doing similar trades, and another went new, they wished they would have kept the 07', fix what it needs and keep rollin'.
The one lady with an 07' said it hauled her big trailer through the mountains better, less problems, better feel and she doesn't care for the newer one after same trips.
Does the newer one have soy based wiring due to gov req.? Was it soy after 08'? IDK

The Artic Fox is beautiful, nice build, looked at those, a Nash, like the Fox best, how about carry less extra stuff?, 10% downsize the extras lol. You already made a smart decision with what you have, No extra cash needed...; P

^Oh chit, your dog ate the wires??
OMG. Good point for when we go camping though. Pack rats are bad in this part of the country in the mountains. My project engineer was living in his travel trailer in our staging yard on a project in the Cascades a couple summers ago.
I think he trapped about 20 of ‘em.
In MT people leave their hoods up when parked in the mountains for any length of time. Pack rats like the cover or seclusion of darkness while they eat your wires!

Got 200lbs of emissions system brand new. And a buncha other stuff to sell. Previous owner bought 1 of everything and 2 of some things from the mods catalog, lol.

Truck sure is nice though and pulls hard. With just a mild tune and trans tune.

I had no issue with the 07, love it, great running truck. And pulls like a train with the tune and clutch I had in it, but this was more a matter of economics with the upside of being a cool truck.
