what defines the tube needed?
does it work for applications which have the air cleaner on the other side(uh.. i believe the inline 6s and.. diesels??)
I want to get one for my truck because the low speed usage and cold ass weather use would probably like me if I did that

Is it based on the shape of the cover in the core support?

I've never had a diesel or I-6. The two cold air tubes I posted are for small blocks. The one with the longer smooth section is for 81 & ups. The core support is more forward than the 73-80 where the end attaches.

I ran into an issue when I used the part LMC says its for 81-87 trucks. The OEM version for the 454 has more of a curve at the snorkel of the air cleaner than the small block did (photo 1). It caused the core support side not to reach. I hade to buy a silicone tube to elongate my cold air tube to fit the core support (photo #2).

I have to order some things from LMC maybe. I might order the correct tube. I bought some black aluminum dryer type ducting off Amazon and Cramer it on both ends.

Afternoon folks, I recently got this 83 C10 5.7l rwd from my grand father. One glaring issue right off is the original air intake plastic has pretty much broke apart you can see where i just used some tape to kind of give it some strength to keep its shape.. He found the accordion hosing as I call it where its an oval shape on 1 end and a circular on the other. that is connecting to a tubular plastic that is falling apart. I so far have had no luck on finding replacement hosing/connectors. it fits over what appears to be nearly a 3 inch circular intake hole behind the front grill. anyone here have any recommendations on websites that would have replacement parts or even any DYI intake setups that would work. I thought about just fabbing up some PVC piping that the accordion piping could fit around and clamp over. and than i could use some kind of rubber coupler from the PVC to the metal inlet where its pulling air from. I'm ears to any ideas. ill attach a screenshot. and ill get a couple more pictures of the inlet behind the grill. ALso i circled the what I guess ia aluminum piping that goes from like the manifold or something of the engine to a 2" or so inlet into the intake as well. no idea what that is called but its been crunched pretty bad so i know its not flowing great. any help on what this part is called and its function would be appreciated. IT kind of surprises me they would design the intake to pull such hot air from the engine... or maybe its to help cool the engine? I don't know haha.

The fresh air tube was missing on my 84 Sierra, 350 when I got it too. It only had a 4" diameter air cleaner on it so I found one online and put it on, and found the tube elsewhere. It's too short so I went to Home Depot, and got a piece of flex hose from the garden center that is the same diameter and added it. Now, it won't stay on so I took it off. I'm not sure what the tube came off of originally but according to LMC, there are 2 different lengths

This is what I used. I had some tiny little open element filter on mine, so I found an original unit plus hose on FB Marketplace. The hose didn't reach the core support so I went to Home Depot and found this flexible accordion style hose that is the same diameter in the garden center. I cut it in 4 places so it would go over the fitting in the core support, and used a dryer hose clamp to hold it on. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. Just out out curiosity, does anyone know if my 84 Sierra 2500 with a 350 would have come with the low or tall style air cleaner?

I'm originally from California. All of the 81 & ups I ever saw with a 4 barrel carb on a 350 or 454 had the tall air cleaner lid. Could be due to the CA emissions.
