You can often guess a man's age by seeing the condition of his square body.

Stock=age 40+

Tastefully built hot rod=age 40+

Slammed to the ground, with expensive air bag system= age 25-35

Lifted to the sky, with obnoxious paint color, gigantic shiny wheels with tires that rival the thickness of a rubber band, and LED lights stuck in places they really don't need to be= age 18-25
Hmm, I’m between the brackets age-wise.

I try to justify everything I do to my vehicles with longevity first, efficiency second, and performance third.

Of course, I’m really good at justifying and half-azz decent at lying to myself.

I'm 71 going onto 18 according to my wife. Owned a brand new '82 C10, 6 cylinder with three on the tree as it used to be called. After railing about computers in cars and trucks I told the wife I wanted something with NO electronics in it, she agreed after seeing the price of parts for doing my own repairs. (Our Ford Ranger a classic example of spending $$$ on chips and proprietary heater hoses). One night we were on the way home and the in the front yard a a rural church close to home sat just what I was looking for. Sure, lots of rust but it had decent tires and a standard (granny-gear) trans and I brought it home. Sure, we've spent a few $$$ on it but it will run when I need it to run without going to buy more computer chips for it.

Here's Old Schools progress, hope to fire it up next week and then off to the body work.

Thought you hated country?
It's kind of a funny story i've certainly not told here, but it just so happens that when I was 24&25 years old I lived in one of two upstairs apartments ON Route 66 - next door to a road bar called.......nothing less than ......."Country Legends" ......it was next door to a freaking 24 hour DUNKIN DONUTS that was next door to a place called "Steve's Wholesale Tools" that was next door to "Jack's BBQ" :rotflmao: that was next to a Mexican tire shop with the Valvoline oil change place I worked at on the corner half a mile away.

TBH at that age I was only starting to raise hell but the conditions could not have been more favorable, I tell ya what.
I took total advantage.
A good chunk of my 4th step was born @ Country Legends over the course of that year and I wouldn't change it for nothin... I was still winning fights and believe me it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. I had my share of country music alright but that don't mean I gotta like it.
Sir.
I'm WAY TOO SOBER, now
.

Edit
: sometimes* would hit this up @ Country Legends cuz on karoke Tuesday drank whiskey sour.

30 and feeling like im 90

I was looking for some small truck, like an early 90's tacoma or something. People wanted way too much for them. I remembered the big old trucks from when I was growing up.
Started looking into the c10's and what not. Realized that they made suburbans too. So I got mine from an auction house and been loving it every since.
Gotta get me a K30 or c30 crew cab. Kinda doubtful it'll happen though.
