- 350 Stroker to 383 with a 400 crank, Crane Cam, Q-Jet, single 3.5" exhaust..
I specifically won't use a Holley because every time the sun goes behind a cloud you have to rejet it. I needed torque in my 383 stroker and although the extra length was supposed to do it - I found it to be a big disappointment.
I didn't want to go high compression and just used some camel-bumps and 3:43 rockers and a Crane cam with a Q-jet.
The biggest secret to getting good torque is to stay with small exhaust pipes. But I tow over 10000 lbs of firewood with it successfully five or six times a year.
Satisfaction in that combo is in the work it can do - it isn't choosey on fuel (87 R+M/2) and can run at 8000 feet altitude as well as 3000, where I live.
