You need a choke block off plate. Every auto parts store should have them for $20-30 in the performance section. Probably get by with some gasket material and sheetmetal temporarily and buy a $10 one on Amazon, Summit, etc.
Yep, that's what I thought it was. And when I called my three local parts houses, all the kids sounded like I was speaking nonsense. LOL

Probably gonna have to redneck engineer something until I can get a pretty kit. ;)

Another quick question for y'all. So, I've installed the intake and am letting it sit for an hour (per Ultra Grey's instructions), then I'll go out and torque her up. I applied a bit of RTV to the manifold bolt threads, but it just dawned on me. I've got A/C on this truck, and as such, I have a couple of brackets that use the intake bolts to hold them down.

Do I install the bracketry now, or can I back on the bolts one at a time after torque to put the brackets on?

Thanks

Oh, and it looks like I'm gonna have to make a block off plate. Things are rarer than an honest politician...

SBC Billet Choke Block Off Plate

Genuine ICT Billet Swap Parts- Made in Wichita, Kansas

Yeppers, that's the kit I ended up ordering. Was trying to find it local, but no joy. Just wasn't going to get here before I needed to get her put back together. Ended up just grabbing a bit of aluminum flat bar, drilling some holes, and calling it done until the kit comes in.

Well, your new old intake looks great!

And from reading your other post(s) in the past, I wouldn’t spend $5 on “performance” bolt ons for a stock 80s engine.
Clean it up, make it nice and shiny fix leaks, but if you want noticeably more performance, save the $ unless the bolt ons you’re buying specifically are going to work well with your future plans for the engine you’re going to use.

I hear ya. I've been extremely undecided on trying to stay stock or upgrading or building a 383. But, I've made a decision. At least for the remainder of this week. lol

I've always loved the Mighty Mouse, so I'll be keeping this powerplant. But I'll be pulling the old 350 out in the spring, and giving her a full rebuild; heads, cam, pistons, etc... Get the engine compartment nice and pretty while I'm at it too. ;)

Well your truck is awesome looking! IMO squarebodys and 67-72s are just “right” with a white cab paint scheme. So much so, I debated not doin the factory 2 tone on mine and doing it exactly like yours or light blue with white.

Hey, thanks!! I do love lookin' at her!

It's so cool getting this thing running a bit better every time I tinker. And my wife helps along the way. Which is fitting, because this is the rig she learned to drive with!! :)
