thinking of adding basic AFR gauge to my 84 454 with Qjet & dual exh for purpose of tuning; don't need wide-band; where should the sensor(s) be installed? (and would having one on each branch be necessary?)
.
(fwiw i run one on my MGB race car at the header collector point & it has been helpful in tuning & jetting the 45DCOE)

Generally there is no need to run dual O2 sensors. You certainly could add a bung on each bank, but a good average from just one bank is sufficient.

It would be best to verify with the specific gauge/sensor, 6-12” from the collector flange is generally what I have done and seems to work fine.

What’s a good AFR gauge that won’t break the bank?
