Adjustment sleeve question

My truck has gotten out of alignment recently
Took a look underneath and noticed the adjustment sleeve bolts on the driver side are at slightly different angles
I could have sworn they used to be at the same angle - but I maybe I never looked that closely
Is this a problem?

Could be that one or both of them are loose. Put a wrench on them and see if you can tighten either one up

Its like a big hose clamp, but better.
If they aren't straight, it wouldn't matter, BUTTTT... most people install those in line with each other, which would lead me to investigate

As far as them backing themselves off, that's sort of hard to believe

One side is RH threads, the other is LH threads.

If they were both the same thread and both clamps were loose, I could see it maybe loosening itself.

Anythings possible though.


When you say alignment is off, that'd be more like steering turn length left to right.
Tighter being less turning radius, loose being more turning radius, and messing with steering geometry.


If the alignment is off, like it's pulling one way or another, I'd think tierod ajustment ?

Yeah it pulls hard left
Probably just needs a tie rod adjustment
I’ll check the bolts on the sleeve and make sure they are tight

I guess thinking on it, tierod is your caster angle


If its pulling left, that sleeve very well could be out of adjustment a tad

It's been a bit since I've had a 4x4 squarebody, so I had to think on it a little

Is that the fore/aft drag link (connecting the steering gear to the knuckle)?

That wouldn't affect alignment. The cross car tie rod would be the component that changes alignment.

This drag link would, however, affect if your steering wheel is crooked or straight while going down the road.
