Did they have Tbi in 83?

No TBI in 83 but they did have Electronic Spark Control which was tied to the distributor. You'd have/had an emblem on the top right of the tailgate showing "ESC".

I think the tailgate badge was only used in the '81 model year and maybe '82? I know there were a whole bunch of trucks made with the ESC, but no tailgate badge.

ESC was an early attempt at knock sensing etc.
I did a 5.3L swap and yanked that puppy and all its wiring out
