I put a 95 454 tbi in my 86 c10. For the last 6 mo I have been trying to get it to run right. It will start right up but when it idles it hunts from 300 to 1100 rpm's . When you put it in gear it die's if you tap the gas it will stay running . When you drive it it will miss and chug till it gets up to speed then run fine at speed. I have changed out the heads, intake throttle body and all sensors and 2 ecu's with prom's still no luck it runs like a ford . fuel pumps put out 17 psi on right tank 14 psi on left tank. till 94 big block would run on 14 psi . 95-96 big block calls for 30 psi . so now I am going to change out the pump's on my next day off . pulling the bed off to do this . if I am missing something please let me know before I put it up for sale or burn it to the ground .

Don't burn it to the ground, put a Q-Jet on it and you'll have happy motoring..

I think you're on the right track. If that TBI has the 30 PSI regulator and newer style injectors, then old style TBI pumps won't work right. I'm sure you could fit the different injectors in the pods no problem and probably rebuild the TBI with the old style regulator, but you'd probably be looking at the same money just replacing the pumps.

For the 4L80 it's electronically controlled unless you do a manual only conversion

Would be simpler to fix the fuel pumps and get it going. Where did the pumps come from originally, 86 was still a carb set up. Or am i wrong and it has stock tbi fuel pumps from a 350 motor.

I put 2 new tanks in with senders and pumps for a 87 so the pumps are low presser pumps. so it is simpler to pull the bed and change the pumps . So while it is off I will put the airbags / load leveler sys in ,

Controllers ain't cheap....but not 1200 tho.
Controller would be around $600 new intake $300 new carb $300 tpms unit $175 dissy $60 gaskets $50 . That's like $1425 2 new fuel pumps my price $100 .I did the math save 1300 bucks . Mo money for other stuff to come.
