uh... so you have an air cleaner thats just ontop of your TBI then? or dont use the duct? Youre still shooting yourself in the foot, the purpose of the duct isnt for speed driving, its when youre not moving fast. it will still get HOT in there. engine temps wouldnt be very easy to tell the difference, its all about combustion temps and air density
He's on to something. And to think of all the thousands of hours and millions of wasted dollars GM's engineering team went thru....

Friend put a K&N filter on his car and complained his gas mileage went down. More Air More Gas

Dually Noted thanks, back to the drawing board!
The trend is lots of low end torque and lots of gears to "idle" down the freeway. Turbos and 8-10 speed transmissions are the thing now. Kinda getting off point....lol

Also depends on the vehicle. A hot wire mass air sensor will use more gas, less power with a K&N the oil from the filter oils the wire, gauze, dust whatever coats the oil so your sensor wire, now has a coat on and can't sense air flow properly. Also depending on which K&N vs which stock filter you may have actually lost surface area on the filter medium, resulting in less air, commonly known as a choke. Then why do they sell them?!!! Because people buy them.

More air+More gas=More power=Less throttle. Less throttle=More MPG.
Theory debunked.
See there is a problem here if you have more power you are required by GOD to use it. So if anything the theottle input should increase or at least stay the same.

Like when I started reloading my own ammo. Cost went down to half or so what I was paying before, but I shot 3x as much. Kinda makes for a lighter wallet in the end, but more fun in the meanwhile.
