I didn't know they were rare. Not sure if I'm going to use one or not. Just have to wait and see how it goes. This thing had so much extra crap with it, it came with three dashs, even though they were all in bad shape. It came with two sets of trim and a ton of extra motor parts

I've seen four in person...My mom's 88 ext. cab had one (scrapped before i could pull it)...My old boss in Ohio had a Blazer with one...A Blazer came through my junkyard with one...and the one in my Blazer.

The last 1986-88 tach cluster on ebay sold for over $100.

I tried to sell one on ebay a few years ago, even with a starting bid of $20 I think it was, there were no takers. I guess the market has changed since then.

Well I haven't got much done on the s10, I spent all weekend cleaning and reorganizing my garage, but I was able to finish welding up that spot that I cut out to repair. It is all welded in and grounded down. I'll post a couple of pics when I get a chance to upload them.

Did you cut out the old filler pocket, or just leave it be?

looks like he left it in to me.

I would have ground the paint off to weld first.

Although I didn't on my cab corners lol.

I just left the filler pocket there it adds strength so it's less likely to warp when you weld it. And it did get grounded down before welded, I made sure I had bare metal to weld to all the way around. I still have a lot of welding left to go but it's a good start

Makes sense. Living in the rust belt, my first thought was "Ahhhh! Future pocket of rust!!", lol. I'm sure that doesn't apply here though.

I have done this to a few trucks now, as long as when you get done you spray the backside down really good with some primer or undercoating you don't have to worry about rust. And if you wanted to you could always cut it off after you get done, the backside is very easy to get to.

I also was able to get the dent in the front federal taken care of. After I get done welding the fuel door up I will just have the antenna hole to weld up and I will be done with the body mods/repairs

I'm talking about on the outside around the area being ground down. It's still painted. I always heard it messes up your welds but I didn't grind mine far back either when I did it.

This is almost identical to what I did when I filled my gas filler doors on my '77 :waytogo: Still took some body filler though to get everything looking right but came out well in the end :)
