The bottom seat foam on my '87 Blazer is worn out so you are basically sitting on the metal support rail. I called LMC as I noticed the description on the foam replacement (38-2383) only goes up to '86 (which they confirmed) even though the picture looks like a match for the '87. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience using this foam on a later year truck?

It's different foam in the later seats like yours. It's also my understanding that the original foam and seat fabric were bonded together, acting as one unit. A very good upholsterer is needed to recover the seat in a way that appears original.

I have not found a upholstery guy that will attempt this job. A local guy found some seats in a dodge van that were very similiar to the blazer seats even the same shade of blue. my 86 k5 has 87 or 88 seats that are still pretty good but showing some wear. I tried to get them covered in blue leather but so far no one local is interested.

its interesting a few years ago I bought some nice buckskin colored leather seat covers for my 86 fiero on ebay that turned out great. they were so nice I bought a complete front and rear set for my 87 mercedes sdl along with a couple of extra hides for the headrest and front seat backs. you would think there would be something for the 87-88 blazers also including the foam if necessary.

I would recommend reaching out to USA1 Industries. I know they make theirs in house. I ordered them and watch their youtube videos on how to install and it wasn't horrible. Would have been better to have a helper but I got it done. Link below for the informationally page and parts.
