I have an older thermostatic carburetor (converted to electric choke) on my 86 GMC 1500.

I am curious as to what wires Are no longer needed from the firewall plug.

Are there wires that I have to bypass or Eliminate?

and is that box that is screwed up under the dashboard behind the glove box and above the heater box, some kind of electronica control unit? Do I need it anymore? Did it control anything more than the carburetor. What about the knock sensor? Do I even need that anymore? Or can I even use it if I wanted to?

I have a feeling some of this may be related to my other thread about my (converted) electric choke not opening all the way when the truck is warm.

i believe in a non tbi but post 8..1? or whenever ESC(and depending on state/options who knows the years) it was the module for Electronic Spark Control which if you look under your distributor cap at the ignition module it is the.... extra wire/connection compared to a older HEI distributor. I think

I believe it pulls timing when it detects knock, i think.
