Are you willing to price just the motor as a long block, with no accesories like the manifold and carb and headers and chit?

Ya know its not a factory TBI motor right 89S???

I am trying to think of what all will be differant. I might be getting confused here, between SFI and TBI, hmmmmm, will a TBI intake bolt to pre TBI heads??? I am thinking the bolt holes are angeled differant, but even then, I bet there is an aftermarket TBI intake that will fit the pre TBI heads, then you'd be set. Someone confirm or deny for me so I don't have to look it up. Its been awhile and I am rusty on the newer stuff. Don't give up on it just yet 89S, I might have sniffed something I shouldn't have.

I think the Vortec heads have the weird angle.

I will confirm and get back to you 89sub.

Thanks,
Mike

I know the vortec heads do. Just not sure on the TBI now. The Vortecs are because of the taller ports and TBI doesn't have the taller ports, so its probably a go with the TBI intake, if not, certainly you can get an aftermarket intake that will accept the TB and the exhaust manifolds are the same. So with that being true, then what else would be differant? And the Goodwrench crate motor can have the dipstick on either side. If fact you have to plug one side or use 2 dipsticks.

Is the vortech style a newer style than the TBI, right?

What about pre-year TBI engines, carbed engines?

So what year motors will bolt into my '89 TBI Burban? Just the TBI motor? And I mean without buying new manifolds and stuff, just strictly bolt in/stock replacement wise, what do I need to look for? I don't wnat to be messing around with different manifolds and ****, or what about teh pulley driven brackets and stuff, where they mount to the block. What year time frame motor should I be looking for? The 87-95?

Ideally 87-95 is what you'd prefer since those will be TBI motors. But pre TBI motor might work too. I know one differance for sure, is the valve covers. Pre TBI bolt on the edge flanges, and TBI bolts thru the center.

Chevrolet 5.7L (8-350).

Small block Chevy cylinder heads came with six or seven exhaust manifold bolts, see illustrations & notes at beginning of part type in Hollander Manual for additional information.

Change induction, exhaust & electrical systems as necessary.

Change oil pans and dipstick locations as necessary.

When using older engines in newer applications, make sure knock sensor can be transferred when used.

When using older engines in newer applications, drill and tap holes for accessories as needed.

Center intake manifold bolts use a different angle than the remaining intake manifold bolts.

Twelve intake manifold bolts used.

|A|, |B| & |C| interchange; difference is intake manifold & fuel delivery systems.

It would work just fine. All you need to do is slot the two inner bolt holes on each side of the intake, or run a carb manifold with a TBI adapter plate. I would choose the adapter plate method myself. The knock sensor just screws into the block drain plug. Use the oil pan and valve covers that come with the motor. Oh, and also use the correct flywheel for the older 2-piece rear seal engine.
