Is it a matter of if it was able to cure first? which would be like, what, a month? Not reasonable if that was the case
ppg says 7 days, this summit brand says 4, I know first hand though on the s10 I built I had to sand the same cured epoxy, same thing, gummed up and had lil hard like crystals or balls in the paper, and it actually scratched the finish badly, and I didn't notice until later.

Also, I may know for sure soon because the 1/4 patches I did have had epoxy on them and dried for over a week and I threw down some filler on them as well.

I wanted max. corrosion resistance. because that roof and that hood had so much surface rust and pits left, and doing the roof bare it breaking through the rust converter, which loctite says not to do, but so did it on the hood on epoxy, all the way down to bare. So really a kind of damned if you do damned if you don't thing.

Well if you have the right decals and gloss finish i think you can cheat your way

Need a big bird decal for the hood and.. hm... stripes!? for the roof. Surely someone has a good way to cheat that lol

The roof for what you see is finish filler'd, on the pass. side, some of the DS needs another coat and around the side and front of the sunroof needs work as well as some other areas on that side. I only filled and blocked with 80, plan to maybe go over with 120, 150 or 150, maybe, or thinking right into epoxy then high build, then block with 220. The hood has been hit with 2 coats of epoxy, and 3 coats of high build from a gun not working right. I was surprised came out decent for no filler, well couple dings, I think i found one more that needs a lil filler, but mostly it just needs more high build and blocking to remove the pits, I'm happy alot less work then filling with filler or putty, then blocking and priming.

I do have to add this.. I was watching a youtube video on an early firebird, blocking and epoxy, he used ppg, and he blocked epoxy perfectly after it had cured so my issues may just be this brand. I also saw a sem brand dtm high build epoxy, and a usc I think? both said high build and both were epoxy, where as mines 2 diff. products. Mines a 2k high build and then the epoxy. Those others said good sanding etc. I'm going to look into them, might try them, being able to save a step and a product would reduce time, and maybe material?

I used ppg shop line epoxy on my car. Sanded fine, but did not do a long block.

got kids involved as well, didn't post my son as you can see his face, figured not the best idea? even though they are all over fb LOL. Anyways, all sanded, roof and hood are primed, roof is done as far as bodywork, just blocking the primer, then if need be glazing putty and sealer before paint. Hood hopefully last coat of high build, blocking will tell, almost out of it. I gotta prime the front bumper, waiting for some bull dog adhesion promoter to help primer/paint/clear flex, and stick. amazon cheapo paint gun with a 2.5 tip worked freakin awesome. Shame my compressor took a crap, had to borrow dad's lil one.

Maybe I missed it, but why did you mask off and only paint the roof? I thought you guys sanded the whole thing?

we did but there was no body work required on the pass. side. So technically it's ready for sealer and paint. The roof was bare metal, needed epoxy and then some high build for the sand scratches and such. I'm not going for a show car perfection blocked perfect job because I know the other body shop's shotty work is gonna come out, and every panel needs replaced to be right.

also if ya notice I left that plastic loose on both quarters under the sail panel area so it could have a soft edge. I've got the filler work and all that on the ds 1/4 the door, the jamb and maybe a dent on the fender? then I'll epoxy that stuff and hb, only those areas, hb the bumper up front due to cracks and most of it stripped to bare urethane?

This was an epoxy fail for some reason, but only over filler, over bare metal it was ok, and yes I have used this over filler before this primer, this same filler, no issues. I was already afraid with the surface rust ad pits on the roof it'd come back to bite me after paint but it already has so I really think it's not gonna get any paint.

I'm thinking 2 options, prime it all and leave it.

or might just sell it.
