Its a gmc vin. YE9 is Silverado Grande Sierra. 71W is the highest end trim interior in red, has like the woodgrain.

Numbers all match on it back to the pink slip and mileage records. Seemed weird to me too. The guy that owned it was a sheriff in a big county and said he wanted a decked out truck but didnt want any exterior trim so he ordered a stepside gmc. He said it didnt have a radio and just white wheels with hub caps. He said he ordered it with 3.07s instead of 3.73 but I cant find evidence of that. Still has the original windshield in it as well. Gonna do a light resto on it.

Even the restored painted grill versions look good on them too-the stainless grills imo just look terrible unless the trim is dentfree and polished or, if you can source NOS parts for it. Otherwise, a restored painted version is a nice substitute.

It’s one or the other, either a Sierra Grande or a Silverado. Your SPID says Silverado which is a Chevrolet model only. Does the vin on that tag match the truck?

Must be a mistake on the tag saying Silverado then.

Yeah it would be hard to forge all that and miss that. Especially for someone 80 years old and was kinda apprehensive about selling it to begin with.

It was built at the fremont plant. I was more impressed it had the original windshield still. Dude didn't drive it much.

The Silverado description just means it has the upper level trim along with the YE9. They wasn’t a seperate RPO for upper level GMC only for Sierra equipment (badging, etc.)

I think I have seen that before and it didn't bother me.

The original owner was a kinda pushy, 6’7”, sheriff who I could see making them do a custom order the way he wanted. Nice guy though and pretty much optioned the way I would want it.

That’s more than liquor if it took this long to figure out what he was talking about.

Ya. Guess I need to "watch" every thread I post in. Maybe create another E-mail address to handle the spam.

Haha! You could have just said your account was hijacked and ask if you missed anything.

I just realized my '79 GMC had the chromed grille originally. Must have got busted at some point, because when I got the truck, it had a damaged regular grille in it.

Also notice the YE9 with no Silverado description. Must have depended on the year/factory?
