79 c20 tire size help

I am buying a 1979 c20 some time soon and I know It needs tires and I found some almost new 185/75r16 tires for sale would those fit onto a stock 2wd truck it also comes with rims that re 8x6.5x28 I think those would fit but am not sure

245/75R16, load range E are very close to the original diameter and load rating for a 8400 lb and up GVW truck. It’s also common to use 235/85R16E, which are slightly taller.

185/75R16 would be very small for a 3/4 ton SRW truck.

My earliest data book is a 1983 edition.

The plain Jane C20 came standard with LT215/85R16 tires ( there may have been bias-ply tires on the '73-''79 trucks, but I don't have any literature/builder info going back that far).
The beefed up, HD chassis RPO CP6 came standard with LT235/85R16, as well as the Crew Cab C20.

Yeah, 285/75-16 fits fine on a C20 on stock wheels and also later model stock wheels that are similar dimensions.
