Its good to know that local parts stores should have replacements. I will just have to see how long the PEX lasts.

they can be found between the Help brand and Dorman has them as well. I think they also come with the new bolt in case your's has a groove worn into it. I believe that the replacements are made of delrin, which is a really durable material.

What coolant temp sensor in 5.3 works with stock 77 temp gauge? I am currently using a mini automated sensor but the gauge barely registers a temp but the computer says 190. Trying not use the large 1/2 NTP 77 factory sensor.

That Pex trick has been around several years. Even a write up about it on here.

i used a three wire sensor for F bodies and it has feedback for the stock gauge and the pcm. Goes in the stock location. ACDelco 12551708. Cost about 21 bucks on Amazon. The pigtail is part # HP4440 and it will also come up as a TPS and MAP sensor but its for the coolant temp as well.

Ok. I am going show off my ignorance again. . My 77 currently is running a 03 5.3 and has factory gauges. I purchased a so called LS swap gauge adapter kit that came with a temp sensor. With it installed my coolant temp gauge barely moves when the engine is at operating temp 180 ish. I called the manufacturer of the sensor and they said it would not work with the factory gauge. . My concern now is, Will the 98 Camaro temp sensor work with a 77 gauge. Thought I read some where that the gauge resistance values changed some time in the 80s.

It works... Just use the pig tail and sensor I linked.. Keep your receipt of course but I have been told by a gentleman who does swaps for a living that is the unit to use and they use in their vehicles.

Update to my driveshaft saga. Shortly before installing the 4 degree wedges/shims to improve my pinion angle my new drive shaft lost its rear balance weight. While i had it apart installing the shims I welded a what believed to be a like weight washer in place of the missing weight. End result was a drive able truck with very little vibe if any. Where I messed up was calling the place that made the shaft and telling them. They wanted me to bring the shaft back to rebalance. So I did. Now its worse than it was when I started this whole mess. I reinstalled the old driveshaft just to see if there would be a difference. The old shaft runs better than the new one!!! I will be making a phone call in the morning.

Drive shaft issues continue. Took it back Monday. Watched them rebalance the shaft and everything looked good. But once back in the truck, there was still a vibration. With rear end on jack stands and truck running in gear, I can see a wobble in the shaft at the splined slip joint. Sent the drive shaft place a video of the wobble, they want it back again. This is getting old. Will try and drive 77 there next time. I in stalled the old drive shaft the slip joint at the rear and it’s at least driveable. Stay tuned.

Sounds like they don't have the flanges centered. Probably misaligned while welding if I had to guess. Some guys never do learn how to counter heat distortion properly.

Installed the new coolant temp sensor and pig tail today. Did not work. Well, it gave me the same result I was getting from the mini senor I installed in the water pump, barley registering a temp. Its either a bad gauge or the sensor and gauge are incomparable.
