I think white letters will help too!!

I have a brand new set of white letter tires, 255/60/15 and 275/60/15. I plan to run those, but still need to get a set of Chevy Rally wheels to run them on.

That's good to know. I'm attempting to make the car more pleasing to the average persons' eye. As purchased, I see a diamond in the rough. But most people just see a crappy old ugly station wagon.

But I do think the charcoal gray compliments the body colors and the tires still hold air so that's a plus. They have over 50% tread too, but I must have bought them a good 10 years ago. I haven't looked at the date codes.

They do look cool, and a hell of a lot better than what was on there before, but I think they look just a tad out of place. The rallye wheels would be way cooler IMO (especially with white letters).

The weather has been cold and snowy, so I haven't been able to play with the car much. It's still sitting on the trailer, I kind of like it on a solid and level surface, lol.

But I was looking it over some more this evening and realized that the car has a factory AM/8-track radio! That's kinda snazzy. There's also an old FM converter under the dash. Hopefully it all works because id like to leave them there. Well, the FM converter does at least need relocated to a more convenient area below the dash.

Yep. The dial is made into the tape door.
Only 8 track ive got experience with was in my dads 71 pontiac GP, it had a radio in dash and 8 track on the driveshaft hump behind the center console facing the rear seat. He used to hand the tape around the seat and tell me to put it in lol i used to sit right behind him. Hes gone now but mom still has the car even though its in need of TOTAL restore.

When I got my '69 Impala, it had a factory AM radio in the dash, with an under dash FM/8-track unit. I never got to use the player, the speed was all over the place. Turned out, the little rubber drive belt inside of it was stretched out. More recently, my '78 Burb had an aftermarket AM/FM/8-track in the dash, probably also from '78. I never tried the player in that one because the tuner was terrible and I swapped it out.

So I've got very little 8-track experience. Just played a a few here and there as a kid, in my Dad's home stereo. Records and cassette tapes were much more common in our house.

Ive got a bunch of casettes too! One means the WORLD to me! Dad recorded it JUST for me when i was a baby all from his favorite songs/ sayings / phrases from all kindsa things, mostly easyrider magazine. Some from easy rider the movie, his fave songs, all the things he brought me up on...i miss him!

These were an essential part of the 8-track experience.

You didn't light them, you usually had to wedge a book under the tape to get it to play correctly. Of course, when you and your friends were in full burn late-night party mode and used all the matches then you couldn't listen to music on the ride home.

Nobody gives those away anymore. I wonder if there's even any manufacturers of them now?
