Like it John. E got his today from the truck shop but dad forgot to order the bezel trim! So delayed again. Dash looks great so far. I’ll keep y’all posted.

With the plastic mounting studs on it.
We was gonna reuse the original one from the old dash and I managed to single handedly destroy it. But it was also real brittle.
Bought a new one and one false move and I snapped a couple studs off of that one. (Installing it and AC vent got caught up)

You know something to profess to the boy before your both blaming each other for pushing on it too hard or over tightening the fasteners! Lol.

Just to follow up, I went with the LMC dash pad and it seemed to fit fine for what I’m doing. I’m very pleased with it so far.
Looks good!
So is that considered a urethane one? Is it same color thick urethane bonded to the metal frame?

Thank you. This one is the foam backed vinyl dash and not the urethane one. So far it looks nice but we will see how it survives an Oklahoma summer.

Anyone know what this piece is actually called? Said in this LMC video it’s a dash trim piece and looks like it screws into the upper cab support? I can’t find that trim piece on LMC website, I’m not saying its not there, I maybe looking in wrong area.

Oh man. I looked at LMC today just for the helluvit. $530 shipped. Holy moly. So I called the truck shop and they are $549 without the shipping. Heyzoos Kristay. The gal on the phone was rude and acted like I should’ve known to order online for the current price, but a 200 dollar discrepancy between the online catalog and the current price is ridiculous. Upholstery guy wants 450.

I tried a cheap ovelay, complete junk, sent it back. I’m beginning to think that $200- something Summit Urethane option isn’t a bad idea and to just live with the fact that it isn’t perfect.

That’s cool that your LMC looks so good though, someday I’ll get one, just want to spend the money elsewhere right now.

So The Truck Shop is $200 off on their advertised price?
The more I hear aboot that place combined with a not so great experience with their mismatched applications and lack of responsibility for it, I’m becoming not a fan of them.

Here's the report on the LMC dash pad I just installed. If this would have been a GM part would have sent it back. However, did get it installed. Took about 4 hours.

The appearance is good, nice grain and color was close enough. Had all sorts of issues with the left cluster bezel area. The opening in the pad is narrower than the bezel. Other problem was underneath where the VIN plate raised boss is. Had to cut the steel out to clear that area. Did require edge trimming. Have no problem with that they say so on the website. I think one of the problems with these is the end result is much thicker than OEM. Had problems with the thickness interfering with the corner speakers. Had to buff some of the material out.

Came from Dashes Direct so you could bypass LMC and go there.

Am thinking this pad came from the same mold as the last one from Classic Industries. The same areas have the same fit issues and they both appear the same from the back. The CI pad was urethane this one is vinyl. The CI pad had horrible waves in the top, this one does not.

Overall, this pad is usable and looks better than a cracked one, but you would be better off recovering an original or finding a used OEM. Unfortunately, the old one was tossed out so that wasn't an option. If it wasn't for the dash bezel area, I would recommend it.

Correct, they are WAY more expensive than their “catalog “ and not updating at all. It’s on us to order online to find out the “current price “.

Thanks for the advice. I threw in the towel today and ordered up a cheesy dash cover from Amazon. It’ll cover up the cracks for now until I decide what to do. I realize it does scream “I’m covering up a flaw” but right now, with difficult options, I’m going to wait and see if I can find a reasonable price on reupholstering the original dash.

How much does that guy up by you charge to re-cover dashes? Trying to think of his name. I know he advertises on FB.

It's really frustrating all they have to do is copy something. It's the same with many of the other reproduction parts out there. Not just SB trucks. They sort of fit, sort of appear right or sort of work. Doesn't seem to be much that is 100%.

He goes by Cruzito Dominguez. Nice guy, came over lickety-split this morning and wasn’t bummed that I didn’t go with him. I offered him a couple bucks for his time, he refused.

I called and left messages with a couple other upholstery people here in town, no call backs. I have a feeling this guy does REALLY good, just have to wait until it’s my priority.

Edit: forgot to put in the quote. He would charge 450 with new vinyl and custom stitching for durability. iMHO, that would be the way to go. Though I appreciate the appearance of a factory dash without the stitching.

I just bought a a dash from truck parts a month ago for my 86 4x4. It was 350.00 plus 80.00 shipping to Indiana. 430 total to my door....It was frustrating when I saw the price compared to their online catalogue, but overall I was pleased with my purchase from them. Sounds like I might have got mine just before a price increase.
