I hear you. When he decided to do this my wife and I talked a lot about cost verses reward, dependability and the amount of time it was going to take. We could have talked him out of it and told him to buy a dependable turn key truck as he had money but this is what he wanted to do. We decided that it was his budget, mom and dad have some skin in the game but it’s been his deal work and struggles and frustration. To us it was never really about the truck, it was more about the life skills along the way. It has paid huge dividends so far and I hope it continues to teach that hard work pays off. He has learned so much, and we have met some many people that are willing to help him which has really gave him a glimpse at what it truly means to have a servant heart…..
And you guys here are a part of it as well. Especially helping me when we are stuck. Sure makes me look a lot smarter than I am to my kid… y’all are all humble and so kind…
It’s great to see him put so much effort into it. Like you said, as dads now it’s more about the life lessons. Both of our boys know how to do more on cars than 90% or more of their peers but Easton is definitely a top 5% er!
Mine aren’t as interested or persistent although both were and are very busy with other things. They do however appreciate what they have, 100%.
Yes they’re fortunate or to some, spoiled, but both work their butts off at other things.
I didn’t realize how nice Eastons truck looked before he re-did it, or is that pic deceiving?
