I could have got a 69 with factory cowl induction hood, and a 400 smallblock for $800 but I couldnt come up with the scratch quick enough. It didnt have any hood springs so the guy used a pipe to hold the hood up. He was working on it and the pipe slipped and the hood nailed him, so he took the pipe to every panel on it. Bout made me sick, but it was fixable. Very solid for this area.

What a *******.. that makes me sick

I gotta say that I have a temper similar to this but I'd like to think I have more self control than this. If it was me I probably would have just thrown the pipe in a direction where no one got hurt and then walked in side and chilled out for a while. The last thing I'd do is beat the crap out of my 69 Chevelle!! The closest I got to that was when working on my truck while working on getting the firewall painted I was getting very frustrated with something that was very tedious so I kicked my driver door! It left a pretty good dent but it was getting replaced anyway so it didn't matter. That's why I chose that door to get my frustrations out. By no means would I take a pipe to every panel on truck, though!!!

This is what my '70 looked like when I sold it. The guy that bought it parked it under a tree and it got sap all over it. He tried washing it off with soap & water but that didn't work so he went at it with steel wool. Absolutely destroyed the paint, then called me and asked how he could fix it. Even though I had the guy's money it still made me sick to think about what he did to that car.

Beautiful car!! I've found that I hate selling my vehicles to locals because no matter what they never take as good of care of it as I did and they always end up trashing it once they've bought it. Makes me sick every time!

The guy was smart...but not with cars. He brought a buddy that was the *car guy* and he didn't know anything either. They found the reproduction owners manual in the glove box that I got online and they acted like they had found the Hope Diamond or something. They were whispering about how much they could sell it for, thinking it was the last original in existence. Dumb and Dumber for sure, but they had a bag full of cash so I kept my mouth shut.

El camino`s and chevelles have always been my favorite cars.

I`ve owned two El camino`s and one chevelle.

My 72 el camino, My first car i owned it had a 402 BB, 400th 12 bolt/w 3:73`s
Best Quarter mile E.T. was 14.30 on street tires.:shitsweak:

This was my 71 it was a real ss 454 with a non original engine. it had a ls6 crate motor with a m-22 4 speed and a 12 bolt w/3:55`s. I only owned it for a few months and never made it to the track.

I sold the 71 to buy my 72 chevelle, It had a 350 lt1 with a super t-10 4 speed but it came out after one month and i swapped in a 468 BB and a TH 400, i left the 12 bolt and 4:11`s alone. Best E.T. was 12.17 @ 123mph.

This picture was right after i got my slicks mounted and had to try em out on the street.

I'd love to have a 442. I like several years of the El Cos. All are 72 or older. I'd sure like to have a 65 someday. Someday, when I went that lottery, I'll have all the cars I want.

Nice 69. 68s and 69s are my faves. I have two 68s and a 85. Mines not an SS but I have a 68 396 for it and a SS hood. Itll be a clone, but it doesnt matter to me.

I like the 64/65 Elco better than the 68 and 69, but I like the Chevelle better in 68/69 than I do the 64/65. But, I'd have either of any of them, Elco or Chevelle 64-69 and be walking around with wood. :manos:
