Received all of the parts from dmaxswaps on Wednesday, they didn’t charge me any extra to fix the wires that had the sheathing missing which was nice. Still waiting on the engine mounts from precision fabrication.

Quick update for anyone thinking about doing this, you have to sport a minimum of a four inch lift according to Robert with precision fabrication. Soooo I guess my new front springs are no longer going to be used along with my itty bitty 31 inch tires. This is going to get expensive quick. Can you say four inch lift with 35’s, it’s a good thing my wife doesn’t go on this site.
Get some strong springs too to support the weight.

Does anyone have experience with running a dry sump setup in a duramax? I am looking into this to see if I can get away with less of a lift if I go dry sump.

What sending unit is going to work for this swap? It looks like I need a 1/2 inch feed and 3/8ths return. I will be using a 31 galling blazer tank and would like to have another port for my saddle tanks to be able to feed into the blazer tank.

What is everyone’s feelings on a sump for the blazer tank? I have read where some people complain about loss of fuel when down to a 1/4 tank. I am debating on one of these two. Or possibly doing something with a small round one but having the pickup tube tie in from the top.

I bought the summit sump. Does anyone have a good way to check for leaks before filling with diesel? I was trying to think of a way to pressurize it with air or maybe just filling it full of water, but I have heard that diesel is better at finding holes in your welds.

Air and soapy water will show you where the pinholes are.

Ya, that’s how the guys that welded waterline for us found their pinholes but how can I pressurize the tank? Unless I make something or put a modified sender in with a air port for the fuel pickup.

Doesn't the sump have threaded fittings? Put the sender in, put the cap on, or attach a hose to the fill, pickups and vent and use a peg, bolt, plug whatever to cap the hoses. Attach your air supply to a threaded fitting. Be sure to use a regulator and only put a few PSI into it. Tanks aren't made for high pressures.

My squaremax brackets showed up today. Everything looks really well put together now I just need to find the time to pull the old motor setup out and to get everything setup.

Does anyone know if a compound turbo setup will fit in a squarebody? Seems like the only thing that could get in the way is the second battery? Hoping to knock out the old crossmember stuff and install the new square max mounts next week on my five day truckation!

Bringing this one back up. I’m getting close to putting the duramax into the square.

I see there's a lot of unanswered questions in this thread. Have most of them been figured out? You aren't in uncharted territory, but dang near close. Certainly a road less traveled anyway.
