Do you need to pull the intake to replace the dizzy style vacuum pod? Can I just loosen the "dizzy to rotate it or does it not work like that? Currently the pod hits the intake and I cannot get the old one out unless there is something I am missing.

Doesn’t matter which way it faces. Should NOT have to pull the intake to remove. Once the hold down is loosened and out of the way, you should be able to twist and pull up on it just like a distributor.

I was under the impression I didnt have to remove the oil pump/drive portion and could just unbolt the pod and remove. The pod is hitting the rear runner on the intake. Im hoping there is something I am missing. Was hoping to not have to pull the drive gear shaft as well. I understand that lining everything back up is a pain.

Just loosen the retainer & spin it. It won't move much if you have the fuel filter located back there tho.

Okay to spin it. Yes, the pod can be removed separately. It's no big deal to pull the whole thing. There's no timing involved or anything like that.
