Ring gear on my T400 flex plate exploded, destroyed the transmission and unfortunately broke the starter off the block. Truck only has 54K miles on it. Hard to find a decent 6.2. Came across a nice SBC 400 to swap in. I think I will go with a 700R4 instead of thr T400.

Curious why you swapped tanks instead of just cleaning and using the ones you had?
The tanks weren’t terribly expensive and the mechanics I spoke with said the lines would clean out pretty quickly but the tanks would take a while to clean out and I decided it was easier to change them. Plus the rock guards were full of mud, rocks and rust.

Has anyone gone from a 6.2 to a 350? What is involved in doing a swap like this? Weighing my options since the T400 blew and took the starter bolt mounts with it. Thanks for any advice!
I’d keep the LS over a 350, personally…lol!

Chitty mileage?

I did the reverse swap, so I probably can't help. But I wish you luck.

The only suggestion I have to offer is to see if you can get a GM harness for the 350 instead of reworking the diesel harness. There's a lot more 350s going to the boneyard that harnesses can be scavenged from, and somewhere there's a diesel owner looking for a glowplug harness or a water in fuel indicator where you're probably eyeing a dumpster.

Just sayin'
Nothing will be going into the dumpster! I'm a car parts hoarder LOL. Besides I want to be able to go back if I come across a good 6.2

That crossed my mind, but I hate computer controlled engines.
Ha sorry. I was making a joke. I thought you were talking about a 6.2 diesel and I was being a smart ass calling it a 6.2 LS!

The LS based engines sure do resemble those Detroit diesels up top. They look alot alike when disassembled.

I always thought the Detroit Diesels looked a lot like a 350 with a big spider on top.

I did it recently, I changed fuel tanks, senders, motor and fuel pump obviously. The biggest thing I didn’t change that I should have was the fuel lines. I put in an inline filter and clogged three of them before I got it on the road. I also didn’t change my fuel tank change component inside the frame rails. If you have any specific questions let me know I’m happy to share as requested.

Btw… it was a full restore so also a painless harness.
Curious what wires you used for power from the original harness? I'm at this point now. Need power for the HEI and electric choke. I'm not removing any of the 6.2 harness just incase I ever go back. Thanks!

I did in the 85 C10. Removed everything 6.2, I cut out what wires that were not needed, used a few for power sources. I even removed the Hydroboost and replaced it with power vacuum brakes.

Sorry for the late response, I've been working on making hand made leather hats.

I used both glow plug wires, temp send wire, alternator wire, starter wire. Any wire I didn't need I just cut them out.

Both glow plug wires? There are 8, green wires. Or did you cut off at the start of where they branch off to 4 on each side and use those? I did not know they were constant ignition power? I want to keep wires intact in case I go back to the diesel.
