Rule of thumb on bushings is if the transmission has over 75,000 miles then REPLACE. If it is under 75,000 INSPECT and replace if desired.

That is the only thing that would ever keep me from not replaceing every single bushing. I sometimes feel guilty if I don't, but when you don't have the tools, you don't have them. Now if they are without doubt bad, I make it happen. I've even made a driver out of wood using a circular bit like for cutting door knob holes in doors. Drilled out the chunk of wood to support the bushing, then put a flat piece of wood over the top as a stop. It works but doesn't last but a couple bushings of use.

Yeah, I don't have that either.. Some day maybe.. Meantime, it isn't just the driving them in I was wondering about. The Official GM manual cites some slide hammer extracting tool, etc, etc.. Like over a thousand dollars worth of tooling.. Big investment if you're only doing a few.. Any other help on alternatives for this stuff?
