Yeah I have 96cc chambers and a .022 mls head gasket and a decent dome at 10.5:1 somebody way smarter then me came up with that number lol
With 96cc chambers it's easy to come up with a comp number,

118cc will put me at 10.2:1 compression with this kit. Which is where I want to be cause I want to be able to use pump gas.

Is that with zero deck??, if you're down in the hole you're giving up power.

If you got a 496 kit 6.385 is the right combination and the piston will have the right pin location, but the dome may not be right for the compression you're looking for, that needed to be figured out before buying the kit.
10.2:1 compression if going with 188cc heads

Also they are file fit rings. Time consuming if done right.

How did this work out? I know this thread is a little older but the kit had me curious, and in the Q&A on the link you provided it said it would not work with a 427 Tall Deck..? I'm leaning towards making my 454 a 496 this winter so I'm trying to sponge up all the info I can right now.. Curious if you had any hurdles to jump during assembly..

That kit will work on a standard deck 9.8 not a tall deck 10.2 cause of rod length.

That kit is good for 700 horse, I'm looking for a 10:1 compression with 118cc heads. I didn't want to deal with the racing fuel ********, cause of expenses. If you are looking for a 496 kit for a tall deck that is the correct rod length. If you go with a 6.8 rod length you are looking into a 12:1 compression if not higher depending on the cylinder heads you throw on that block.

You can use a 6.385 too and keep the pin away from the rings..
