Does anyone know anything about these header-ish exhaust manifolds off of a 4.3 v-6?

i'd like to remove the A.I.R. tube right at the manifold. So, i'm wondering if the manifold is made of the same material as other exhaust manifolds? i probably won't be doing the welding because i don't have any equipment. But what material should be used and what welding process would be best?

If there is an easier way, i don't have to cut the tube right at the manifold, but would prefer to because it would be cleaner.

A lot of manifolds are cast but that one looks likes steel because the tubes are welded together. If that's the case just have the tube cut and the hole welded up.

Yup, that one is steel tube. Like the 85-85 3/4 ton 350 manifolds...they breathe a little better. Weld her up! But make sure you dont need it to pass inspection first.

How thick are the manifolds? Are they thick enough to be tapped after you cut the tubes off? If you can do that, then you just put some plugs in them, but still have the holes available if they are ever needed in the future.

Pisses me off. I have the left side of that one on my 85C20 bent frame truck, but they kept the passenger side unit. I hope someday to find the match to make the set.
