My 350 4 bolt main swallowed a piston, i have the tools and knowledge to rebuild it but not the place or the time.

I found a running 292 for 250 bucks with a 30 day warranty, everything is included wiith it including the engine perches (gotta love having friends that own junk yards)

My question is, are the flex plates and starters the same? I know the trans bolt pattern is.

I just installed a brand new starter on my 350 so i would like to reuse it, the 292 is mated to a 3 speed and i have contemplated working a deal for the trans, linkage and pedal assembly as well.

Any information would be a great help

My truck is a 1985 C10 and the motor is coming out of an 1983 C10

Your junkyard friend doesn't have a sbc laying around? Seems like that would be a whole lot easier. I admit it would be cool and interesting to have an I6, but in this case the swap doesn't seem worth it unless you get everything to put that 292 in for a great price.

Sorry, I don't know about the interchangeability of parts between the sbc and I6's.

I also feel it would be easier and cheaper to swap another 350-305 that's been rebuilt built or junkyard 350s are cheap easy and run along time I know its not your answer but may be better in the long run

X3.....it would cost you more time effort and probably money to NOT reinstall a sb 350.
