Mine was either an HM290 or 5LM60, which are nearly identical from the outside as the NV3500 but NV3500’s are better internally.

What year s-10 is it? Could be any of the 3 above, BW T5, or world class BW T5

I wasn't aware of the S10 being available with a T5 behind a 4.3? From what I remember, all 4.3 rigs were auto only until 90 or '91 when they started using the HM290/5LM60 or whatever they were calling it first.

I had one in a '91. Many times I've heard people say that they weren't a good transmission, but I couldn't break mine. I abused the crap out of it. Lots and lots of clutch dumps and an obscene amount of no lift shifts too. That truck was a hoot.

I read it on the internet so it must be true… Right?

The list in the link is pretty general and doesn’t include engine size on some of the listings.

Yeah, I believe all that info is good, it just doesn't state which was used behind what.

As I think about it, more memories are coming back. From what I remembered, the 5 speed (HM290 I guess... I've never found out for sure) wasn't available behind the 4.3 until the '91 model year. That article says '90. However, it made me remember that my '91 was made in what would have been crazy early in the production year. It was like June of '90 I think. Or May. I can't remember, I just recall that it was very early.
