Picked up my Sub almost 3 years back. Was in pretty good shape, but had a few flaws, friend cut me a deal I could not pass.

Blue and Gray two tone. Had 28kmiles(up to 42 now) gon a rebuild and a brand new transmission (not sure the model #)
P.O. Put it on a 3” lift and some 31x10.5/15’s. Not exactly my style, but I still love the look of the truck.
Spent most of its life in Florida, so next to no rust considering I’m in Wisconsin. Little rust on the one rear door and the lower rear corners the side windows. Under body is all but clean with a touch of surface rust.

Then for the bad and the worse.. year before last a maple branch came down across the hood. Found a set of fairly clean fenders for a steal and a friend had a spare hood. All was well and I had plans to repaint anyway as it was starting to fade.
Well last week we had a slew of tornados across the state and yet another tree came down on the sub. I live in the forest and have no “safe” places to park. Came down across the back just behind the rear doors. Smashed out the drivers side window, and cracked the passenger side. Caved in the roof a good bit, dented the back doors, cracked the windshield. Was a real number.
Insurance says the truck is a total loss, which I expected.
They said the base value was between $1,800-1,900. That seemed low to me. I know this thing wasn’t in showroom shape, but I don’t see them around going for that with almost no rust and low miles.
Do you think I’m getting the run around or is that a fair price?
Either way I plan to buy the car back and do something with is as far as repairs.

Howdy!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It also sounds like the insurance company is trying to low-ball you. That's part for the course though.

Look up several comparable vehicles to establish a replacement cost, then present the facts to the insurance rep.

$10,000 Danget.

She would have outlasted most the plastic on the road these days.

Glad he is gonna buy her back.

Welcome. Like they said, you are probly getting the runaround, but when you get the project going, think,"exoskeleton".:waytogo:

For one that looks decent, and functions, it's an arm and a leg. I have looked around.

For safety, I have the family exit on steep, or really off camber stuff. It sucks.

But I dont have a tubing bender, nor the patience for all the measuring.
