Also the smell thing you mention is one of the reasons there is concern its bad. The smell of rotten eggs by chance describe it? or maybe sulfur?I’ll go get some better angle photos to show. I don’t know the first thing about catalytic converters other than everyone steals them for some reason
Sulfur dioxide if memory serves is created if gasoline is able to get to the converter, which is very possible if you run rich and have a converter not to temp, for example. instead of breaking down hydrogen sulfide over platinum in the converter its combining into that sulfur dioxide which is foul smelling
but the smell of oil burning, the smell of interior to the cat components breaking down, etc may have various effects i dont describe here
