First off I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I do not have privileges to post in the "classifieds" and could not figure out where a good spot would be for this. If the mod wants to bump it over to a better spot it would be much appreciated.

Anyways, I'm new here. I have always loved the early 80s square bodies and now that I have a little extra cash, I am looking to get my first one! :)

Have been watching craigslist for a couple months now and finally one really caught my attention.

I want to make sure I am not getting screwed over, so have taken a few precautions (the owner is taking it by Chev Dealer service center), but I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me ballpark what they would spend on the following truck:

1984 K10
Short Box
93K on odo, claims it has never rolled over
V8 350, claims to never had engine or tranny rebuilt (with 93k I believe that)
automatic
lifted 4", not sure if body or suspension
wheels do not look stock
Carfax says originally from Missouri, 12K on it the first year and then it falls off the map until 7/17/2012
Tow package, says that no one has towed anything at least since it has been in his family

Also any hints/tips/suggestions for when I do look at it myself would be amazing!!

Thanks again guys!

It looks like a pretty clean truck! As for ballpark price, thats tough as I think it varies a lot depending on WHERE its being sold.

If you are looking to buy it, I'd say post up how much they are asking for it and get peoples opinions on if that is WAY too high or if its decent.

Definitely inspect the underside of everything. A body can be cleaned and fixed more easily.. Most common people don't get all the way into the frame and everything, so that could be a way to see if its truly had a rough life or not.

I'd say if a mechanic is going to look it over, they might be able to give you a good input if its running rough or anything. As for anything else, walk around the whole vehicle. Look for anything that looks "out of place" or broken or missing.. Turn it on and listen to it. Listen for any major weird sounds and such. Drive it and feel how it rolls along. If its a super rough roll, wobbles, weird feelings.. ask about it. Just generally pay attention to it and see how you feel about it after the test drive.

Post up asking price and I think you'll get a good idea if people think its way high or average or if you should jump on it right away. hah. :D Good luck.

You will need at least 50 posts and be registered for at least 5 days to post a thread in the classifieds. Nice looking truck!

Thank you guys so much for such a quick reply!

The person had it listed for $5000. I am in Washington State if that makes a difference! Is this a decent deal? Assuming the mechanical aspects all checkout...

He also mentioned that he was thinking about throwing her on eBay, so I'm hoping he will be a little flexible in the pricing. Not sure if that means a bunch of people have looked and didn't like it or if he just doesn't have the time... Hopefully the chev mechanic can help me answer those questions. :)

You guys think there is a better forum I could put this in? I know it's not a tech discussion at all!

Probably ok where it is for now or we can move it into your intro thread until you get your post count up then we can move to the Classifieds. Up to you.
