Hi everyone, new here, have a few difficult questions for you all.

1) what would it take to match up a np205 transfer case to a turbo 400 4x4 trans?

2) is it possible to run a 4l60e behind a carburetor and if so what would it take?

3) Is there a wiring harness that would match a 1995 gmc sierra k1500 tbi with ecu and transmission controls to a 1973 chevy c20 body, meaning be able to plug everything in on the motor and then connect it to the body of the 73 with out any major modifications and hassle? if so can someone provide a link to where i would find one?

currently in the middle of placing a 1973 chevy c20 body and bed on to a 1995 gmc sierra k1500 frame and have run in to a few snags.

A few answers to your questions.

1. You will need the th400/np205 adapter. Should be pretty common with a 205.

2. To run a 4l60, you can get a stand alone controller to run the trans.

some of the snags that ive run in to are as fallows

The goal was to get rid of the electronics on the 95 engine out of the gmc. At first i though there was a 700r4 trany in the truck but it turns out its a 4l60e with the np205 transfer case behind it. because i don't have another trans and transfer set up the 4l60e is gonna have to stay in the truck, which means that i have to keep the computer and everything that goes with it. the reason it has to stay is just for a lack of founds to go in to this truck. kinda just have to work with what i got and buy small things along the way.

the project is only two days old but its looking nice. have to do some custom fab work to get the 73 body to mount to the 95 frame.

so the only real snag i have is having to keep the computer because of the transmission. and because I'm keeping the computer I'm looking for a wiring harness that will connect the engine to the body with out looking like egor installed it( horrible). but haven't found on yet

that's not a 205 transfer case I'm pretty sure, not in the 95 it should be a nop241 or 243. it's also a driver's side drop unit, the older t-cases like a 205 is a PS drop deal.

Do you not have a trans from the old truck? If so with some work it could be made a 2wd since the old truck was 2wd right?

As for the electronics, if it's tbi all you really need is an intake for a carb, with the bolt holes elongated for the 4 center bolts to match up, this can be done on older intakes or buy one that's for 87-95 heads.

fuel pressure reg. and keep the in tank pump, or if the block is fully machined already you could use a block mounted mech. pump, very cheap and easy that way.

Of course you'd need a carb and a hei distributor to do away with the computer controlled one.

One big issue is also your speedo, that's vs or electric. pretty sure the computer has to stay for it to work, thing is the old truck has mech. gauges, and needs a cable to make it work. So you'll need a signal converter from electric to cable, pretty sure somebody makes em, or you're gonna need to make the trans or get a trans or t-case that's cable operated speedo.

I think the old 205's can be made vss, but most older cases are cable driven, 208 203 or 205 etc.

then the 241 or 243's on the newer ones are vss.

You can still run the 4l60e behind the carb, but you would need to run a VSS, And TPS.
Not sure why you would want to run a carb when you have all the 95 stuff, but you can do it with what you already have.

Nope, that's not a NP205. That's going to be a biggo project. I'm curious now much cutting will have to be done to the cab to get it on the wider frame and will it make it to weak? :weak: I'd like to see this work out.

I think we all know, but just in case some don't, the reason the GMT400 and later bodystyles have a wider frame is so the fuel tank could go inboard of the frame for the obvious reasons.

Tell us what you're actually trying to accomplish here Brandon. I have a feeling I know part of it. Being in Cali, the 73 is going to be Smog Exempt. A 4x4 Conversion at the same time? Anything wrong with the 95 Body? How about of you get this body swap done, you do a straight axle conversion up front? Then you could go older passenger side drop Tcase and transmission. I'm not a big fan of the 95 4L60-E transmission anyway. It's the first year of PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) for the lock up converter. Then in 96 Tailshafts and VSS were changed along with a mod to the Manual valve which makes the 95 a Stand Alone year model trans. A 94 trans won't interchange with the ECM and a 96 has things the ECM won't recongize. You could around all of that by going with a 700r4 if you wanted to keep the light duty OD trans.
