1965 Mg Midget

So thought I would introduce my 1965 MG Midget. She is far from stock. 100% drive train transplant. Motor is a 2005 chevy Ecotec from a cavalier. Tranny is a 2009 AR5 from a Colorado with a solstice bell housing. Rear end is a narrowed Ford 7.5 out of a ranger with a limited slip. Custom intake and modified cavalier header. Aluminum direct replacement MG Midget radiator with a 10 inch pusher fan controlled by the factory GM computer. Interior completely redone using the 2005 cavalier seats that were modified to fit and removed the headrests. Super fun car.

Interesting swap. Gotta be about twice the hp in a car that weighs nothing. She does sound fun.

Car was originally 49hp and new motor is around 150hp and it only weighs 1600 pounds.

That's the amazing thing about English cars. Take the British components out of it and swap in some American stuff that works and you have a great car. Just ask Caroll Shelby. I trust you got rid of the Prince of Darkness electrical too?

Actually no. This car has an almost perfect Lucas wiring harness in it. The only thing I did was take out the stock fuse block and put in one with more circuits and took blade fuses instead if glass fuses. The car was in extremely good condition (well it was ugly and had a **** interior but no rust or sketchy wiring) for siting for 30 years.

It's pretty hard to screw up wire. You know, except for using brown for grounds. It's the relays and other components that will get you. Hope it works out for you.

In 65 the wiring was pretty primitive so no relays or anything like that. Later years yes but not in 65. Well I guess it had a started solenoid and flasher relay but that's it. The origanl fuse block only had 2 circuits.

It has upgraded front shocks and its lowered all the way around. The hub caps are screw on so no fear of them coming off.

I been messing with My 78 MG-B Roadster that's been setting for about 8 years.

MGB would have been a better choice since they are bigger. I just found my car for a really good price and it was in really good condition considering age and how long it had been sitting.

I feel the same. The TR6 is a way better looking car but I found the MG for $500 and couldn't pass it up.
