Is there some sort of steelie besides the og split rims that accommodates the 8x6.5 8 lug bolt pattern that the original hub caps and beauty rings fit on?

I think the later 8 lugs had a ,16" steel wheel like you're looking for. The OBS trucks have a steel 8 lug wheel but it uses a center cap and trim ring instead of the hubcap and trim ring.
Looks like this:

Awesome, thanks. Just to clarify, the split rims didn’t run past the 73-80 models. And the 81-87 steelies will fit the truck and the 73 hubcaps?

I think the dog dish 8 lug caps are the same size, early and later styles. But I'm sure someone will clarify or correct it if I'm wrong....but to use those, the wheel has to have the bumps on it. If it's smooth all around the middle like the OBS ones, the hubcaps will not fit! That's why they have the plastic center caps, that are held on by the plastic lug nut covers that thread onto the actual lug nuts.

I replaced the original 16.5” split rims on my ‘75 K25 with 16” rims from a newer squarebody. Used a pick and pull yard where I could verify they came from a squarebody truck and they were all the same width. Then bought GMC 16” hubcaps from somebody on eBay.

245/75R16 10 ply tires are about the same height (31”?) and load rating as the old 950x16.5” tires.

Even many Ford and Dodge rims in the 80's will fit the 70's and 80's GM caps on them. The biggest difference is the center opening is slightly larger, so they are simply lug-centric on a GM truck.
