87 R10 TBI injectors will not spray

Guys, one more thing to check when problems like this occur, is the small rubber hose between the fuel pump, and tank outlet tube. Over time, these will develop a hole, and is the worst thing to diagnose. It's one of those "outta site, outta mind" things that will leave you with a lot less than...

87 R10 TBI injectors will not spray

Replace that injector with the EXACT size...do not go bigger.

Has anyone ran 4" pipe one a 350?

You will loose a crapload of low end torque. No bigger than 3" for single, dual 2.25 for duals on a stock-ish engine.

350 starting without fuel pump relay.

The fuel pump relay is only for the 2 second prime shot in these vehicles. If your oil pressure comes up quick enough, it will activate the pump. If oil pressure goes dangerously low, it will kill the power to the pump...unless the wiring has been dicked with.

    87 V10 5.7 Runnin rough

This is especially true now, since the Vortech intake manifold does not have an exhaust crossover to heat up the air fuel mixture when it enters the manifold. Hot Rod, the vortec has a higher flow rate than the TBI heads, and more volume, wich throws everything outta whack with the stock TBI...

    87 V10 5.7 Runnin rough

Nope, at this point, that stuff doesn't matter...the fact that he has vortec heads without the proper tune is the big ticket issue...probably didn't install EGR Anyway. Correct. Split hoses usually bring the pressure down to carb spec..8 and under

    87 V10 5.7 Runnin rough

Foamy Nailed it! The tune is the problem most likely. I would recommend an adjustable regulator and 14psi. Contact Eldon at Wester's Garage in Canada, he may have a tune loaded and ready to go...at least I expect he would, as Vortec heads are a popular swap. The only alternative, which is labor...

    engine running funny

Agreed Rich, I usually recommend a more stocking timing setting while troubleshooting...then when everything is at a good baseline, the Ping is the limit!

    engine running funny

Ok, when you say you have the Holly 600 clone, is the float adjustable like a Holley? This should be correctable, and it sounds like the float may be too low. Holleys are the best aftermarket carb out there...and, I think the summit is made by Holley anyways. I like to use the clear sign plugs...

    engine running funny

I haven't sorted through this thread, but have you confirmed that your balancer has not slipped, causing the timing to be set wrong? The only reason I ask, is because you said there was no black smoke to indicate a rich bog, but, if it was a Lean issue, there would be pinging, and possibly...

350 TBI weird idle and deceleration issues

Ok, Cool. The ECM activates the light on any trouble code to report, however, you will only get it for a troubled sensor, OR IAC. you will not get codes for Fuel issues, like pressure, fuel pump, bad injector/spark misfire. Sensors do get lazy though, and until they meet a pre set threshold...

350 TBI weird idle and deceleration issues

If the check engine light does not illuminate when you turn the key to "on", the bulb is likely to be toast. I would start there, and also inspect the wiring/or any plugs on the Vehicle speed sensor, which is located in the tailhousing of the transfer case. Inspect the wiring at the IAC as well...

    what muffler do you use?

Magnaflow, or any straight through types of full body muffler. Screw the Flowmaster gimmik bullshit. Stuff eventually rusts, and comes loose. Length will dtermin volume...the longer, the quieter.

How to repair a cut dash without welding

Exactly. I just couldn't find a square at any of the yards to get a donor piece.

How to repair a cut dash without welding

That pissed me off so bad about my Burb. I ended up just riveting a steel plate over the mess, after custom fitting it to my stock radio.

    !987 350 tbi

Shouldnt be. Performance depends on which heads were installed. TBI heads have a swirl ramp in the intake port, which promotes low end torque.

Using stock speedo VSS in place of transfer case output VSS?

Pin F8 on the blue PCM plug, grey and black wire goes to the 4wd indicator to alert the PCM what range the transfer case is in. Shouldnt be an issue as long you have it hooked to the indicator, which would be the hot lead to the indicator bulb.

    305TBI to 350TBI

The Aftermarket EFI systems, like Holley, and FAST will self tune for mods, an OEM system wont. I replied to your pM, i dont show up here much anymore. If Carb is what you really want, go for it, but take my air cleaner recommendation into consideration...very important when operating in cold...

    Getting the TBI running again

That first one is the diverter valve control from the ecm. Th green wire with plug may be for the AC...like a test port, or, if you dont have AC, that plug is left there from the removal. Its the power wire for the AC clutch. That single wire black connector looks like it might be the O2 plug if...

    1986 CCC 454 Convert to TBI 454

Yup, the relay that sits next to the fuel pump relay is for the 400/3L80 kickdown.

    1986 CCC 454 Convert to TBI 454

The difference is just in the harness, two wires for the IAC are swapped from the small block positions. If the. If the TBI unit is from a 94-95, you will need to run a TPI pump.

    going to carberater from tbi

tming is 0* on TBI small blocks, set to at least 4* for carbed.
  25. Jims86

    Tbi to carb.

You dont need to worry about the TPS stuff... just the throttle adjustment. Takes less than 10 minutes if the engine is warm.
