Can anyone point me where the black cable was earthed and where I can buy new electrical plugs from. They’ve all gone brittle and I want to do some cable management.
Thanks
Here’s my coverlay experience. Sanded down the high spots. Filled the gaps with a dash filler, slapped on coverlay and re installed. Very happy with result.
There’s a few c series around the place but the k series are pretty rare here.
Queenstown Is a beautiful part of the county. Hope you enjoy your time here.
Mines getting close to being on the road now.
Here’s a link to all the wiring diagrams. I printed them out to make life easier.

Yes it covered the whole thing. The only thing i didn’t really like was the holes drilled where the centre speaker is but you can’t really see them once it’s installed.
I got mine from summit but here’s the supplier https://www.coverlaymfg.com/i-15908540-coverlay-18-601-dgr-dash-cover.html?srsltid=AfmBOorZ1ja2wTlK9rC9_yiP9acR-mhprrYc1vORRXPaLT2d7TvILv_1
I just googled dash filler compound and bought from my local auto shop (I’m in New Zealand.)
Another cheap option for people is coverlay for around $150. I’m pretty happy with the results. I used a dash filler compound, sanded the dash down before applying the coverlay.
Old brake lines breaking down, they swell and let fluid through due pressure applied but won’t relax enough to let the pressure back out which jams the brakes on. Could be the culprit.
If you get really stuck I have a full set I’ve just pulled off an 83, you’re welcome to have it for free but you’d have to cover postage from New Zealand.
I would suggest an air locker or e locker. These units run as an open differential until selected, then both wheels have drive. This will give you the most predictable driving manner and reduce wear compared to auto lockers. They do cost more and require a bit more technical knowledge to...
Definitely have the C6p, the spare tyre was a 235/65/16. Larger drums and 56inch 8 leaf. 4.10 ratio.
Unfortunately I have to prove to the vehicle entry certifier in NZ what it is with some form of written identification.
Hey guys, putting my vehicle on the Road over here in New Zealand. It’s a 83 k20, is there any way to identify the GVW, my friends 73 has a plate like this but I can’t find anything on mine.
Cheers
Sounds like your blower has stopped working, when you’re driving you’re feeling passive fresh air coming in maybe. Try all settings at idle without aircon.
With no airflow across the evaporator the compressor isn’t going to have a good time, and is likely the cause of the ticking noises.
Fronts all together apart from the tie rod. Full strip down, new ball joints, bushes, bearings, ujoints and some eazy ride 4 inch leafs.
Backs out and coming apart with some off-road design drop shackle kits. Has anyone had luck removing some springs out of the leaf pack for more flex and...
You can get these stereos from Ali express, doesn’t play cds but Bluetooth works and I think they look pretty good.
I’m going with 2x 3.5 in the front and 6/9s behind the seat with an amp/sub combo in a custom box.
Hey guys. I’m just about to replace the water pump so need to sort belts.
What size are required for an 83 K20, it has air con, smog pump delete.
The belts are so worn I can’t get any detail from them.
I went with coverlay from summit. They had a good deal that came with decent door cards. I filled the cracks and sanded down the high spots, treated the little bit of rust underneath and then glued the coverlay over top.
