LE9 305 ESC backfires through exhaust on deceleration

Yes, as a test could disable air pump for a short drive. Did you check exhaust with a load? Really doesn't take much of a leak to cause a backfire.

LE9 305 ESC backfires through exhaust on deceleration

Is the air pump diverter valve functioning? exhaust leaks? Most common cause is O2 entering exhaust causing unburnt fuel to ignite.

    Hydro brakes

From the factory generally hydroboost was used on higher GVW and diesel vehicles. I had a fleet of these trucks with both vacuum and hydroboost. If vacuum will work for the application that's what I prefer. Hydroboost is more expensive to repair. Adds several more components [hoses] and other...

Twitchy steering with a big travel trailer (rear sway bar help?)

Those would be passenger or SUV tires. Will never work. No reputable tire shop would install P rated in the place of LT tires on a 3/4 ton vehicle, liability. Look at the load capacity on the sidewall.

    Highway vibration 55-65mph

When vibrating at speed put tranny in neutral. If vibration continues would eliminate engine related issue.

Twitchy steering with a big travel trailer (rear sway bar help?)

Tire brand, air pressure and incorrect load rating can contribute to unpleasant driving experience. Assume alignment especially caster and toe is within spec. On 2wd toe changes with frame height change.

Accel HEI Super Coil (140003) Magic or Trash

If you are referring to offshore parts I agree. Original GM failures are very rare. We used to pull distributors out of cars going to the crusher. With only basic checks installed them for hobby stock racing to 6500 without issues. Beyond that coil saturation [dwell] becomes a problem. MSD...

Accel HEI Super Coil (140003) Magic or Trash

^^^agree^^^ Stock HEI coils commonly produce 40KV and are dependable. My opinion replacing with an aftermarket "upgrade" a waste of money.

    rough idle

Engine running dribble fuel into the front venturies one side at a time. If one picks up and smooths out that side idle circuit is restricted. Take the idle mix screw out of that side, squirt carb cleaner and or air into the hole where the screw was. Doesn't always work but worth a try.

5.7 back fires through carb but timing is good.

40% is high but that alone isn't enough to condemn the engine. Old cold [when tested] engines can read high and be good runners. Was it leaking by any of the valves or into crankcase?

High oil pressure after replacing pump

Or a SB Ford that twists distributor drive shafts and or destroys drive gear. Just went through that a couple months ago on my own car.

High oil pressure after replacing pump

That's a slight bit higher than most SB I have seen but not high enough to worry about. After all, it's not a Chrysler that blows oil filters off. Those factory gauges are really indicators. If it really bothers you check with a mechanical gauge. If it were mine I would run it and never give...

5.7 back fires through carb but timing is good.

Generally speaking backfire into intake is lean from whatever cause: carb, vacuum leak, ignition misfire. almost any valve a train issue, example: broken valve spring, flat cam ect. Was the vacuum checked and if so was it steady or irregular?

Leaking power steering fluid from Hydra boost unit.

I used a local rebuilder for HB units. However, ones that had a staked push rod on the brake pedal side could not be rebuilt. Apparently it could not be disassembled. Rock auto and NAPA have rebuilt units and appears to be the only option. Will caution you, there is an accumulator can with...

    55-75 OE distributor

Both materials, have seen cast iron more on late 50's vehicles. Some Corvettes used iron later into the 60's that included a tach drive.

Hate it or Love it, it's sweet

Someone spent an incredible amount of time and material on that. Too bad they won't recover what the paint cost. Question where people minds are at on an oddball build like that. Probably THC, nicotine, alcohol and paint fumes are involved.

    Engine oil lines.

I believe you will find a small horizontal clip. If one is there, pull it out fitting will come off. Hard to say what is actually dealing with, Blazers never came with a big block. Was able to find one original style hose for a C 30 to compare. You may need to have something made...

    Engine oil lines.

Need to fix that. Those are engine oil cooler lines. If one ruptures it's likely to kill the engine before you have a chance to shut it off. Can't tell from the pictures but if it has factory GM fittings there is an o ring inside that either needs replacement or a new fitting. No way I would...
