    big block starter replacement

What bucket said. Any chance you can use the mini, go for it, unless like me, is just an old plow truck, lol. More power, better cranking hot AND cold. There is a reason they cost 3 times as much. GM's rarely have the corrosion problem growing up inside the wires, like chryslers do. For a real...

    HELP! My truck won’t start!

OK, first, be aware some years had a small tube welded on the timing cover. The reason is, at the factory, and dealers, a probe was uses to check the timing. These had 2 timing marks on the balancer. A thin groove one, for using a timing light, and one further away, much wider, for using the...

    HELP! My truck won’t start!

It doesn't matter where the dizzy is inserted, as long as the rotor is pointed at the wire going to #1, as said. I don't think you "get it". Now the way a Chevy 350 works, #1 and #6 are "companion cylinders". This means that they, and only they, will be at TDC when the crank timing marks are...

'78 K20 wiper and headlight switch selection help needed!

Some of LMC(and others) parts listings are wacko. Like they list the turn signal switch for a 78 for "non tilt" only, when tilt and non tilt use the same switch.

    Tire size confusion.

What DD said. Some came with that large, depends on how the truck was ordered, but the size you have is one of the most common today, I have seen. And, yes, todays online and tire shop size charts are terrible for older vehicles. Way back my dad had a 74 SRW camper special with 16.5 split rims...

Help With Parking Break Dash Light Staying On

Look at the picture. You need to make sure all the parts are there, especially the 3 links from the cables to the frame. Missing one gives you a loose floppy cable, not enough adjustment. Your adjustment is where the front cable goes through #6. It is threaded. BUT you need to make sure both...

Help With Parking Break Dash Light Staying On

Your rear cables should be adjusted so they pull the pedal clear up to and on the rubber bumper. Don't know if I have ever seen a pedal that worn that a simple adjustment would not fix. The pedal ans no return spring, like some vehicles. And, yes the little lever switch can get bent.

Coolant Hose Popped Off the Thermostat

I doubt you could get a small block to idle that low. Sounds like coolant was partially frozen. Or maybe clamp was not tight enough.

    Intermittent steering wander?

Having a similar issue on my winter Astro. And it sucks, this is the fist time I need a good alignment that I cannot do myself, as every shop I worked in had machines, and I no longer work in a shop. Anyway, first- darting- Tires/tread Road conditions Poor alignment, especially caster and toe...

This one needs to go, asking for opinions. Offering it up here first.

Yes, but most states do have laws for such. NY also has no lift restrictions, as long as you lower the bumper to stock ride height.

I partially agree. Is kind of a wish and dreaming that every rock or debris will just happen to fly out right at the rear, and hit the "mud flaps". Have seen many times rocks thrown out of these tires above the flaps, straight up, even forward.

A large part of the country have winters. Along with many miles of gravel roads. Gravel mixtures are also used on snowy and icy roads. So, yes, that kind of mods have and are being outlawed, for street, especially highway use. This is here, a few minutes ago-

    CARBURETOR DATED

No, drainback or siphoning does not drain the carb. What it can do is empty the fuel lines from the carb back to the tank. The carb can evaporate dry fast, even in a few hours. Most common causes of siphoning- weak pump valves, or worn, or dirt, and a bad fuel cap.

Perhaps, but in most of the country it would be yanked off the road. Why? Because we people are tired of these poor mods used on the streets, you take out, break windshields a mile behind you, throwing rocks and such. Buy a few 2k windshields and you will get the point. While you don't have a...

    STEERING COLUMN

Well if you are not a rock crawler or serious off road racer, don't see the need when stock ones last 20 years or more. But is your cash. https://www.quadratec.com/products/56113_56.htm
