    14bolt FF size vs 10bolt

Rotors will need to be 8 lug rotors, they are a little larger than 1/2 ton 6 lug rotors are. Calipers should physically interchange but the piston size is different between 1/2 and 3/4 ton calipers.

Best place to hook up vacuum gauge on Edelbrock carb (permanent and temporary)

I’ve got a vacuum gauge that lives on the column of my 76 next to the tach. This is an old picture, truck has an Autometer tach in it now: The wideband O2 gauge lives in a little panel I made that is mounted below the radio. Personally I really like having both the wideband and vacuum...

Best place to hook up vacuum gauge on Edelbrock carb (permanent and temporary)

You should be fine teeing into either. The “cleanest” would likely be to find a fitting for the manifold with two barbs: Quite a few varieties that are available, a little looking may be needed for the most ideal configuration.

Skool me on timing w/o timing tab

Just use a piece of stiff wire and bolt it to the water pump or wherever convenient to make a pointer, then find TDC using a piston stop or other method, mark balancer/bend pointer to match mark. Then you will need a dial back type timing light or mark the balancer with degree markings or use...

What new tools have you got lately?

Nice 150 series Craftsman. I've got two of them myself, one late forties and the other a 1959 in power bronze. Depending on what kind of drilling you typically do, if you use the depth stop a lot the later ones have this quick action style with a fine adjust. Much quicker than spinning the two...

I forgot to attach a picture of said test piece, just so y'all's know it really was a test piece... Grabbed ferrule kit and back probe set from hobo freight. Used the 15% and 30% coupon for this weekend. I believe it was @PrairieDrifter that recommended using ferrules for the Dakota digital...

No flare fitting, but just a test piece. I have done that before though. Never failed it would be a really nice flare too

Did a test flare on some 3/8" stainless tubing. I'm impressed, as does not say its capable of doing stainless. From the website:

    Leaking Metal Fuel Line??

Another option is getting a roll of Nicopp tubing, 3/8". I've never used it myself but it bends and flares easy. Do note that the factory fuel line from tank (or selector valve) to fuel pump runs underneath the passenger side motor mount plate, if I'm remembering right there is a clamp under...

    Leaking Metal Fuel Line??

Lots O' options. If only a small section is bad just cut, flare, use a union to join a new piece in, check inline tube, or summit, jegs for full replacements. It should not make a difference between single or dual tanks, it's soft lines to the selector valve.

    Questions about... My rear end?

Yeah I wouldn't condemn an axle just because of seals. First thing though, is the breather/vent tube free and clear? A plugged up vent will cause pressure inside and the pinion and hub seals are not really made for pressure, so they'll leak. Still need to verify that regardless, if you put...

    Questions about... My rear end?

$125 for just a Powr-Lok as a core is pretty good, to get everything else is even better. One consideration is the Dana 60 is a 9.75” ring gear, whereas the 14 bolt is a 10.5” ring gear. Strength wise both are plenty strong, but the Dana 60 might offer some more ground clearance compared to a...

    Questions about... My rear end?

I’ve not messed with a 14b FF G80, but I believe they are held in higher regard than the 14b semi float, 12, and 10 bolt G80s that have been known to explode on occasion. Hence the name Gov-Bomb.

    Questions about... My rear end?

The 1968 rear is a Dana 60, with a Powr-Lok. The Powr-Lok is generally regarded as a very good limited slip, as it uses two cross pins that ride on ramps, so it is able to apply more force to the clutches on the side with less traction. They are adjustable by playing with the clutches and...

    Questions about... My rear end?

Are the pictures of the axles you have? The first one is a Dana, with a Powr-Lok. Not a 14 bolt.
