oooh, stay with original sheet metal in my book. Especially if you are in the desert and can find rust free stuff. Aftermarket will never fit as well as the OEM panels. If you are really concerned about rust, hot wash the insides of the doors, then have them sand blasted ( inside in the joints...- Fat 454

what are you trying to do / why do you need to remove it? We recently had to repair the trans cooler lines on an OBD K2500 4x4. hey, welcome from VIC ! The most desireable sqbody will be the one with the least rust ! Doesen't matter what year, as so much is interchangeable, so you can build whatever you need once you have a decent rig. FWW my daughter just looked over my shoulder and absolutely loves / wants the truck ( starts driving with dad on her b'day in Dec ! ). We got her a "ute" as a first vehicle, but at least its a v8 manual 5k is a joke, would be more like $20K over here, even in that condition. You would be lucky... -

I get everything blasted at a "local" industrial paint place. They do large stuff like frames and suspension arms OK, but are not interested in fiddly small parts ( I need a blast cabinet for those I think. valkomna. I spent some time in Malmo ( back before they built the bridge, and you had to take the ferry for a beer..!). What is the history of GM in Sweden? Did they build / sell chevy trucks there, or are they all imports from the US ?? I dont remember seeing any, only Volvo, Saab and VW !!- Fat 454

we keep everything except old gaskets and seals etc. When you have to double the price due to the exchange rate, and then double again for shipping and import duties, you cant afford not to. everything is rebuild able ( thats why we are in to this stuff in the first place right ). roof rust "paint?"
Like @fast99 says - you will want to get the roof wet "sand" / media blasted to clean out the rust to bare metal. whether you do this first, or come back to it later, I would invest in an airless spray gun and hit it first with a cold galvanising ( zinc ) primer.
