    Rotor/Hub 86 k10 GM Corp 10

Yeah I was confused when I first got into the front brakes on these. Knock the studs out and then use a soft blow hammer to separate the hub from the rotor.

    Wire identification help

The factory 12 v path is battery, then starter, then junction block, then those 2 power wires into the cab. Anything in the engine bay that needs power is fed by those two wires and is fused inside the cab on the fuse panel before heading back out into the engine bay through the firewall...

    Wire identification help

That black wire is most likely a fusible link to protect the trucks main circuits. The main bulkhead connector has 2 main power wires that feed the cab. I think circuits 2 and 3 in the service manual. So those 2 circuits are what connect into that black wire I'm thinking. That junction block...

    Wire identification help

That black one looks like it goes on the factory junction block that you no longer have. The second Pic you have is where it would be. You can probably just hook it up on that replacement junction block in your Pic. You can see in your Pic the wire on the left most connection is the same as your...

    Wire identification help

I believe that pink one is the fuel tank level sensor wire. It snaps onto a port on the sending unit on top of the tank.

Where to go through firewall for radio amp battery connection

You can reuse the wiring hole for the hvac wiring going from the cab to the blower motor. GM used a big grommet down to a small bundle of wiring. You can order a new grommet in the same outside diameter with a larger inside diameter to add your Amp wiring to the existing blower motor wiring routing.

Need help with my 700r4 TTC wiring harness

The EGR connection is optional. Having it hooked up properly gives you lockup in 3rd gear, but you don't really need it. You can bypass the low vacuum switch as well if you want, it helps with drivability. It unlocks the TCC when you get on the throttle, which is a "low vacuum' scenario. Here...

    Seat foam for buddy buckets?

Covers look to be in good enough shape that you should be able to take them to an upholstery shop and ask them to remake a set using them as a pattern. For your foam I've seen people cut patches and use adhesive to replace missing sections. Otherwise yeah you'll have to play around with trying...

    How to "Un-Lift" my suburban

Might be able to set up a swap for stock suspension parts with someone looking for a lift. ORD stuff is nice and should be desirable. I have 4 in lift all spring from tuff country and like it a lot. Kinda wishing I had gone with a 2 inch lift, but still happy with what I have. Not sure how...

    Modern Retrofit Tow Mirrors.

There is also this thread here where a guy kept the stock base and machined a post to go in it and mounted the newer style mirrors to the post.

    Modern Retrofit Tow Mirrors.

After looking at the pictures I posted closely, you may run into clearance issues with the vent window frame. It looks like this style of mirrors intrudes into the door interior a good margin. If you look at the window area on the silver truck there is a black plastic blank at the front of the...

    Modern Retrofit Tow Mirrors.

The newest GM trucks (2019 1/2 ton, 2020 HD) have door mount mirrors instead of the window frame mount that has been standard the last few decades. I've never seen anyone mount one on anything, but it should be possible. May have to do some trimming on the base to get the mounting angle to work...

New dash bezel deleting wiper switch on dash

I have a newer column in my 83 but I put the entire cab side harness from a newer truck in mine alongside the column. I think the wiring to the wiper motor is the same as long as you have one with the built in washer pump. So you should be able to splice it together without too much work

New dash bezel deleting wiper switch on dash

Measure the hole with some calipers and mock something up in Fusion 360. Then head to your local library and 3d print a cool cover for it

    Door wiring conduits

Yeah I think the factory made the hole on the cab oval shaped to make routing the wires easier. I was really feeling the lack of space when I routed my wires. My aftermarket boots from lmc are round on both ends, so slightly smaller than the factory on the cab side.

    Door wiring conduits

There are dimples on the door and on the cab door for this. On the cab side the factory put in an oval hole. Most people just put in a round hole. I think the hole size is 1 3/4. Door hole is always round. So on the cab just center your hole between the 2 inner dimples. The outer dimples are...

Fresh Air vents with factory A/C?

The sheet metal is not provisioned for vents on the driver side in AC trucks. They never punched the hole. In heat only trucks there are two versions of trim for the kick panel. The common option is trim just around the vent hole with the manual handle. For the rare Silverado trims with heat...

First real drive! Not tragic but not good. I think I need carb advice.

I went with a different carb for my 350. After some research I decided to go with a summit carb that is a clone of an old holley. It was around $400 and worked great out of the box. I went with it over the standard holley and edelbrock options due to price and I personally don't like the holley...

Need help finding out where this goes and what it does?

That's the 4x4 shifter indicator light connector. Plugs into the ball detent switch on top of the transfer case. If everything is set up properly in your truck when that is plugged in the dash will light up with a part time light when in 4 high or 4 low

    Blower motor wont turn off

The way I'm reading that seems to mesh with what I said. Power ventilation seems to say that there is some blower movement. Or maybe not. Marketing speak is never straight forward. I'm curious if anyone else experience matches mine. All I know is it is a lot cooler in the cab with it unplugged...

    Blower motor wont turn off

It runs constantly in my 83 k10 with an 85 interior harness. The off position is slower than Low, but it still runs. I only drive my truck in the summer so I just unplugged the harness from the blower resistor on the firewall. If I ever want heat a couple minutes plugging it back in is all it takes.

    General Bolt Size Master List

LMC stocks most of the bolts for things on this truck. They unfortunately don't say what the sizing is in their listings. The fasteners tend to be the same across much of the truck though. The same bolts are used to put the entire front end together just about. I picked up a couple bags of LMCs...

Modern center console rear a/c and heat

The center consoles in the trucks have no rear vents until the 2019 trucks. Can't speak for the Tahoe/Suburban but it was a big complaint on the trucks. So look at a 2019+ for a better center console.

    4wd indicator light wiring

Yeah you can test the switch in the transfer case via continuity. It is just a ball switch that gets depressed by a big steel ring in the transfer case. If you put a lead on each terminal of the switch while it is in the transfer case and put it in 4 high/low you should see continuity. In 2 high...

    4wd indicator light wiring

Looks like you have all the parts I was missing on my harness. I never did determine how the 4wd relay worked as I never ended up seeing one. From my investigation, it isn't required to get a functional dash light. Looking at your pictures you also have the factory 4wd indicator plug. I rigged...
