Heading out here in a little bit to pick up a set of those 80's aftermarket Qualitex or similar buddy bucket bench seat things. The one that has the fold down back for the center seat that is a center console. I'll have to redo the seat and covers, but I'd like to try it myself if I could. Does anyone know where I could get some foam and possibly covers? Even if I end up having to buy upholstery foam and doing it myself, I probably will. Any tips would be appreciated!

If they're the aftermarket things I'm thinking of, I'd be surprised if you could buy foam that would fit the seats. You'll likely have to go to an upholstery shop and have them make foam for you

Covers look to be in good enough shape that you should be able to take them to an upholstery shop and ask them to remake a set using them as a pattern.

For your foam I've seen people cut patches and use adhesive to replace missing sections. Otherwise yeah you'll have to play around with trying to get new foam made.

I bought dense foam from Joann Fabrics, several years ago.

Joann seems to only have 1.6# density stuff. I may try it anyway. As far as the covers go, I was going to try to sew my own using them as a pattern.

You might be able to buy some automotive seat foam online in square blocks and then buy a hot knife and start carving till you're happy. We used to do that in race cars all the time, but we used 2 part self rising foam to custom fit the seats to the drivers. We never bought any foam online

I found a 24" x 82" x 4" sheet of 2.5# foam locally for like $110. And that was just the first place I called. Looks like an electric knife and some foam is in my future.
