    Latest thinking on replacement gauges

Has anyone tried New Vintage Gauges (NVU)? Looks interesting. http://newvintageusallc.mybigcommerce.com/gm-truck-73-87/

    Hood Support Bolts/Posts

OK, got it. So these aren't supports. These are the alternate version of the one that used to be in the center of hood. I believe there was another thread covering this subject. Thanks.

    Hood Support Bolts/Posts

Are the rear support bolts/posts for the hood supposed to have a rubber pad on them? I mean these bolts: Mine don't have any rubber pad on them. I would think they should have something to keep them from rubbing the backside of the hood and taking the paint off. I cannot seem to locate...

Anybody repaired a BAD cab corner?

Definitely looks like you need outers and inners. Not too big of a job with the bed off, although I had the luxury of also having the entire cab off. If you get the large outers you will have more than enough metal. You can see the weld lines on mine. I got these from NPD because they are nearby...

    1978-1981 Stepside Fuel Filler Neck

I have just realized that the stepside fenders that came with my 1977 K10 project are actually from a 1979. For the fuel filler the difference is they have the fuel filler door (not just the exposed fuel cap). I believe this was a 1978+ change. So now my problem is the only filler neck I have is...

New to me 1988 Cutlass Ciera xc

Interesting and rare find. It reminds me of the Chevy 'twin' that was produced at the same time. Anyone remember these - And similarly, the Buick rare edition in the same time frame -

    Latest thinking on replacement gauges

Going through the postings it looks like the most recent discussion on replacement gauges was in 2017. I am starting to think about new gauges for the 77 K10 restoration (current gauges are shot - was left out in the weather for years without doors). So I am curious, what is the current thinking...

    Weatherstrip sets

I am looking for a complete weatherstrip set (doors, windows, hood, etc) for the 77 K10. Brothers sells a set. Steele only sells them individually, ends up being pretty expensive. Are the weatherstrips like sheet metal in that they are all made by the same manufacturer and are just repackaged...

    TH350 Kickdown sticking?

For what it's worth I did receive and install the Pioneer brand cable. It seems to be a tiny bit better. It does not stick and releases properly after WOT. Will see how long that lasts.

Where to get a new throttle bracket thingy(pic)

On my SBC327 the throttle return spring runs forward in vehicle not reward. It hooks into a simple L bracket that bolts onto one of the intake bolts. The bracket came with the Edelbrock EFI kit, but you could easily make one. It looks something like this -

    A-pillar & B-pillar Trim

Thanks. Some searching of google images suggests the headliner trucks got a-pillar, b-pillar, upper windshield & upper rear window trim. I assume there was also a piece between the a & b-pillar to close out the headliner. Was the headiner an option or just standard on certain models?

    A-pillar & B-pillar Trim

Curious - what models came with a-pillar and/or b-pillar trim? I see there are parts available from most of the regular vendors (LMC, Brothers, etc). Neither of my cabs have either a or b-pillar trim. Was it just certain models? I assume you can easily retrofit the trim onto cabs that did not...

    TH350 Kickdown sticking?

Any idea on where to obtain good ones? The only suppliers I've seen is Pioneer and ATP for this truck

Stepside fenders on or off for paint?

Thanks everyone. I am going to paint the fenders separately.

Stepside fenders on or off for paint?

The side & front panels and tailgate are brand new (Mar-K, really nice parts). They don't require 'normal primer', just the epoxy to provide added rust protection. I will need to hit these parts with 400 grit or a scotchbrite pad before paint because it will be more than 7 days before I get to...

Stepside fenders on or off for paint?

Just finished laying down 2 coats of epoxy primer on the new Mar-K bed sides, front panel and tailgate. Getting closer to laying down some paint, probably over Christmas break. I am planning on assembling the bed sides and front before paint. But now I am contemplating whether to bolt the...

    TH350 Kickdown sticking?

Status update. I pulled the kickdown cable out of the trans. The wire going down to the valve works just fine. Lots of spring pressure. Returns immediately to normal position. So no need to pull the pan. The issue seems to be within the new kickdown cable itself. If I unhook the cable from the...

    TH350 Kickdown sticking?

Thanks. I think I will drop the pan an take a look at the lever and valve. Shouldn't be too much of an issue since there isn't any fluid yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    TH350 Kickdown sticking?

Hoping someone has some expertise with the TH350. I completely rebuilt the TH350 for the 77 K10. It is reinstalled along with the engine. I replaced the kickdown cable. I have the kickdown cable attached to the throttle body (upgraded to fuel injection). When I manually open the throttle to WOT...

    Frame info

Unless I am mistaken, isn't the actual frame manufacturing date stamped on the passenger side frame rail just ahead of the fuel tank (on the outside)? I know mine is...

    Help with cab corner fitment

Had the same issue when restoring my cab. These parts aren't always the most accurate, even from left side to right side. It is also possible you somehow ended up with a 'slip on' corner vs replacement corner. They are slightly larger in order to fit over the top of the existing corner...

    Prothane Body Mounts - Height?

I found that at the Prothane web site (not the reseller site I purchased my kit from) they have another kit available that also includes spacers for the rad mount (kit #7103). For that kit they include better instructions that list exactly where each of the bushings go. You have to look...

    Prothane Body Mounts - Height?

One thing I forgot to post. I need to find (or fabricate) the 6 metal factory sleeves that go inside the bushings. Somehow the 4 for the cab got thrown out during teardown. And the 2 on the rad support have become 'one' with the bolts. Those things are not coming off, ever. Does anyone know if...
